19/9/2005 15:56 | I keep on telling myself that Avocet has got to explode at some stage, it can't not, but it looks like even more patience is required. Yawn, still sooooooooooo bored with this stock but not letting go. It should have passed the £2 months ago and we are not yet even over the £1. zzzzz zzzzzzz zzzzzzzzzz | yikyak
19/9/2005 15:31 | Have done a bit of research and dipped in today for a few k. Have been thinking about getting into commodities for a while now. Would expect to see a swift move upwards once we break the 100p ceiling Not worried | worrier
19/9/2005 15:20 | always takes off at the end of the year 4th time in a row. Is it results or what? | yam114
19/9/2005 14:11 | Looks like AVM is heading for the 120p mark sooner than i thought | bestbuddy
19/9/2005 12:37 | We done Saucepan, I like the FAR4 thread there are some good chartists. It seems people are asleep with AVM and OXS. There are very few gold producers on AIM or the LSE and you would have thought both threads would be buzzing given whats happening. I like OXS for their Silver asset just about to commence. I think Silver will be over $8 very quickly and then on to the $10-$15 range within weeks. Gold I think will top out around 468-470 retrace maybe 10 or 15 dollars and then the big rise to 480 and beyond. | kickstart
19/9/2005 11:56 | Posted the following on the FAR4 thread a short while ago: I think Avocet Mining (AVM) is going to pop and have been stoking up my position this morning. Look how a breakout pattern appears to repeat itself throughout the 3-year graph. I am banking on the same pattern re-occuring: and it appears to be forming. Gold is breaking out to further highs as I post, and the effect on AVM is usually slightly delayed. Of course, I might have got this badly wrong, so please DYOR | saucepan
19/9/2005 11:20 | Good for you Saucepan, I have a 200 pound a point long spreadbet+ some shares in my SIPP. | kickstart
19/9/2005 10:31 | Hope so kickstart, I have just added again to my position. | saucepan
19/9/2005 10:05 | Amazed no comment this morning given the rise in Gold. Still moving like a slug but may move lunchtime like it did on Friday. | kickstart
18/9/2005 11:33 | Kojak. Do you reckon AVM is your Nap selection in the sector or do you have other favourites? | supersturrock
17/9/2005 08:38 | Don't get too optimistic, AVM still underperforming. XAU made new highs, measured from November AVM should be at 105 again and measured from March AVm should be at 125 just by mirroring the XAU performance. Perhaps I was too pessimistic in the last few weeks as other junior miners haven't done any better. Looking at some major miners it screams "crash" again. Just too expensive. XAU and HUI could very well double, yes. Nothing against South African stocks, too. But Harmony? They have a market cap of 4 bn now with perhaps 2.6 mio sustainable production and lowered cash costs to only 350 or so meaning total costs with capex of 450. Reserves are 35 mio or so only. That translates into US$120/reserve oz and US$1500/production oz. That's not cheaper than Gold Fields and with much less cash flow. DRDGold, my other holding, has gone up too much, too. US$1000/production oz while Avocet costs only US$750 with much lower cash costs. Then you have blue sky exploration potential which just isn't the case with DRDGold. And AVM production could double with Taror/Chore meaning cash flow will be 40% higher than DRDGolds at 30% the price (140%/30% = 466% = +366% vs. DRDGold). Let's focus on the facts and stay calm. I guess 18 months down the road when the XAU is at 200 Avocet will be above 500. Assuming limited exploration success and Taror/Chore feasibility positive that will be only average US$/reserve oz. | kojak78
16/9/2005 18:05 | Hi dixi - yes you did, good luck with both. | saucepan

16/9/2005 13:57 | Saucepan - been here since the 30's (feels like 1930's!!) - did I see you on 'why' thread the other day. Hoping for a good slow but steady over there too! | dixi
16/9/2005 13:26 | holdontight, "I don't think this is just POG related...AVM has never really followed the POG." My thoughts too, when I saw this morning's move up I felt it may be because of news rather than the POG. Ashley, Good to see you bullish about POG and AVM again! | andy
16/9/2005 13:15 | AJ : absolutely, albeit for me more than £2, but that'll do for starters. Now that your $359 POG target has gone, where do you see POG headed. I assume you have changed your bear sentiment now ? | holdontight
16/9/2005 13:12 | Hi ashley any views on oxs? | gucci
16/9/2005 13:05 | Holdontight, And at US$460 Gold? What then on a 200,000 toz pa plus producer? I have always seen AVM as a 200p stock personally. All IMHO,M NAG, DYOR etc Cheers Ash:) | mr ashley james
16/9/2005 13:03 | SP target price was 130p I think, but seems too low to me, more of a first target level. | holdontight
16/9/2005 13:02 | I don't think this is just POG related...AVM has never really followed the POG. Could we be due some good news on Zeravshan or is the long overdue rerating taking place or both ? Fair value so far as I can see is still a long way off | holdontight
16/9/2005 13:00 | Gucci, What was that Seymour Pierce Buy Note Target again? Still long and waiting on Indenberg News I hear rumours that the grades and interesctions might be fairly impressive. Cheers Ash:) | mr ashley james
16/9/2005 12:49 | lots of selling gold prices coming back a bit | gucci
16/9/2005 12:30 | Supersturrock; good gearing from high production costs is a false economy: even at $400+ gold so many are in trouble (Queenstake, Apollo Gold, Kirkland, Thistle Mining for example). I would stick with producers with less than 250 cash cost, i.e. OXS, but political problems European Minerals: Not yet producing but good leverage Celtic: At current prices they represent good value I think POG is overvalued and Uruguary I find a bit opaque to value | wolstencroft
16/9/2005 12:25 | Supersturrock; good gearing from high production costs is a false economy: even at $400+ gold so many are in trouble (Queenstake, Apollo Gold, Kirkland, Thistle Mining for example). I would stick with producers with | wolstencroft
16/9/2005 12:24 | What about OXS, still not really reacted to gold price and if Jeroy comes back in the fold they could easlily move up 20 to 30 percent. | kickstart |
