Managed to get some just under 390p edmundshaw, could've got them cheaper if they'd been easily obtainable through either of the brokers I had cash with, so a bit frustrating overall. Hopefully will look a solid price to have bought at though. Fingers crossed...

Price closed at 404p. Take off 101.69p as that is capital paid out on the OLD shares. So we get to 302p or so.

Now consolidate by 25/19 and we get to 25 x 304 / 19 = 397p. We are at 396.5p right now, so basically unchanged.

Entries posted by HL (broker) are not easy to follow, but it is early and they have not yet allocated any return of capital, it seems.

As for the rest, who knows?

Looks a bit of a bargain this morning. Added a few at 390p. The share consolidation should not affect the price materially, after all. Even if there are people trying to sell today for tax reasons, the price movement seems a bit over the top...

Price is tempting once the divi payment arrives on 19th for long term dividend at north of 7% !

I believe the SEDOL code has changed, which would probably be more than enough to confuse some brokers!

Is there a new ticker to buy AV. stock? Just tried to get a price-but both brokers I tried with are saying they don't recognise AV.

It's a share consolidation i.e. get fewer shares at same price.

I assume the value of our shares will fall today.
Cash to be paid to us by 31 May.

This is a huge distribution, obviously they do not need the cash.
Outside of an ISA I suppose it is a messy CGT calculation.
Divi this week as well.

Apologies if this has been answered, but it seems to me at a share price of £4 and a consolidation & payment of 76 & £101 respectively, the resulting net value after this exercise is exactly the same. Am I reading this correctly that I will end up with no increase in overall value, just less shares at the same share price and a matching payment?

I was expecting all to be squared with my broker.... Still got same number of shares, so a bit anti climatic.Futures are down though, so hopefully this share is heading south today.

Having read last post am little bit wiser unfortunately a lot poorer

I have had the knack of picking tops and bottoms in any particular stock alas often in the wrong sequence

I know a great deal about very little and very little about a great deal .

Caveat empor .

Have a good week everyone

If things follow the accepted stock sector rotation then at the top (we appear to be past that now?) one should be in commodities and energy.

As the market falls, conventional wisdom says rotate to consumer staples, healthcare and utilities.

Or, if one thinks a big crash is coming, go to cash, because if stocks fall faster than the rate of inflation, stocks will be getting cheaper even with high inflation.

Timing is all in that last case of course.

strathroyal- where would you invest next? It's a plan I had not considered, but rather than build here, if the price makes buying hard to justify when I compare other stocks, then why not accept I've made a decent profit and move on whilst the price settles down.
