Good news, looks like my latest purchase at 4:27 PM yesterday may have been well timed.

Also in the news(The Times) new government in America is looking to inject $3.7 Trillion (yes trillion) into the economy to get it moving forward. This may be seen positive by markets in USA and here.

Roll on Monday, fully invested here.

Initial estimates were for 2.5-3bn so this would be a decent sale. Will be interesting to see if anything pops up in the uk press tomorrow

Think that the market will like this offer good to see a bidder has thrown their hat in the ring at a respectable price.

I thought own funds for France was £3bln - with all the messy stuff in here and unions and difficult regulators I’d take own funds all day long

Think that this will be within the expectation around 5 or 6 times annual profit more or less what Aviva commands.
I would have hoped for a decent sort of bid premium there is time yet for another bidder to increase this .

Do people think €3.2B is acceptable? Will this be viewed well by the market?

It is quite a leak, if the article is correct the journal has found out before Aviva has as the article was published yesterday at 7pm...

Surely, such a detailed 'leak' will necesitate a Statement
by Aviva on Monday.

If an (ex special div.) share price price of 330p with a yield of 6.25% materialises, my strategy would unhesitatingly be to plough the whole 75/100p back into topping up my holding in Aviva.

Rob when /if this was to happen I think the 430 would be a spike until the payment and this would drop back down to somewhere lower due to the 21p dividend.
Because at 430+ this would make this below 5% dividend.
The 21p will act as a cap for the share price.
It would drop until the dividend found the balance with the likes of LGEN in my view.
The 2 ways this will stay at 430 is if the whole market goes up and all returns get lower as a percentage or they pay out the extra cash slowly which will cause a yoyo effect.

If I was holding before the special I would either sell on the build-up to special payment or just after payment and stick it in Lgen for 6.5% or national grid for 5.5% or someone else.
On the positive side, an extra 75/100p would be amazing at the current share price.

What will the markets' reaction be when AB announces that as a result of asset sales between 75p and 100p per share will be returned to shareholders as a special dividend
AND that the annual ordinary dividend of 21p per share will be maintained

My guess = 430p

No. You can look him up on Linkedin. You can imagine the adaptations (although I knew him from working with him and his McKinsey group in Munich, and the name only worked for us Anglos).

I have not looked at them although, oddly (pun), I know their Oslo claims head Odd Magnus Barstad from his McKinsey days. I don't recall that big a company hitting such a COR, although smaller niche operations do (including Sabre in the UK). It does seem that the Scandinavian markets offer better returns than elsewhere, as the RSA operations also performed very well and are the foundation of the price being paid for RSA.
