25/2/2006 23:19 | m4m, not sure what the intra-day movement is caused by - I had been thinking it was due to lack of liquidity in the stock. nearly 70% is held by a Belgian co. Would have hoped to see this closer to 90p with the recent very positive news (in comparison to previous state of play). That said there is long term downtrend in place since Aug 99 which we have yet to get above and that is where the share has traded higher during the day a retreated - currently circa 86p. Next week we need to get above around 84p to break the downtrend I'd estimate. On a positive note, the long shadow saw it find support at previous highs 74.75 - which is good for a move higher. | cobweb
25/2/2006 12:33 | cob Well there's movement coz AVE looks to have become soooo volatile intraday that daytraders are playing it ? I'm just watching for another entry point. Any bets on it staying in the uptrend ? | m4m
21/2/2006 23:00 | There should be some more movement here - any reason why not ? | cobweb
20/2/2006 19:01 | Gerry i take responsibility for my own actions and deserve to 'lose out' if I don't stick to my disciplines. Lesson learnt and all that. I actually banked 35% on AVE so I can't complain anyway. Thanks for your extra info as I always welcome your comments. | m4m
20/2/2006 01:14 | I still see Avis Europe being re-united with Avis Inc. - Like Hilton. Either way, the restructuring process at AVE is gathering pace. I will only ever hire cars from Avis or Hertz. For the first time in 3 years, Avis quoted me a cheaper rental than Hertz. That's encouraging from a hands-on perspective as an AVE share-holder. I see this as hard evidence that their pricing is becoming more competitive and this will further stimulate sales. | quepassa
18/2/2006 23:49 | M4 Sorry ...........if my pessimistic outlook in previous posts contributed to you getting out of ave earlier than you otherwise may have..... ...If you have spare cash I would recommend HRN at 210p or lower BUR at 925p or lower ARU at 60p or lower and BWNG at 190p or lower | gerry321
17/2/2006 14:15 | cob my humble opinion is that looking at the long term chart suggests 90 is the next target if it can close above 80. There's loads of consolidation between 90-100 so it could spend alot of time in that range if it gets there. If it breaks and closes below 75 then looks like 63 is on so as to test the 200DMA. | m4m
16/2/2006 23:55 | m4m, any thoughts on the share price for the future ? | cobweb
16/2/2006 17:53 | Very odd .... would have expected a move higher today. | cobweb
15/2/2006 18:53 | Snap, Yes the announcement sounds very positive. Faster restructuring, bigger savings, and results for this year ahead of expectations. Hope we see some further positive moves on the share price over coming days and weeks in run to results announcement. | cobweb
15/2/2006 12:32 | well done to anyone still holding... | snaptastic
14/2/2006 20:11 | Bit surprised no movement here - Fidelty upping stake yet the share is drifting sideways ? | cobweb
09/2/2006 20:41 | Any views on this one ? | cobweb
08/2/2006 15:24 | hello ??? Is Ashley James still in these? what's going on ? | iss005
08/2/2006 14:49 | Any news please about to-day's rise please? | quepassa
27/1/2006 17:32 | Aye Gerry I think I'll bank profits next week and move into something more exciting. I'll have a look at HRN ;) | m4m
27/1/2006 11:58 | m4 Well done for holding your nerve until 75p was breached I got in at 63p pre rights (52p post rights) and out at 64p and 70p post rights In between I did lots of research that eventually convinced me the Institutions will get out at their entry price as the prospect of being bought by Avis Inc is less likely without Avis Inc having a pre deal with a Venture Capitalist My take was that the tops price was around 70p so I got out Everybody who bought in at the rights stage are now sitting on a 35-45% profit Methinks when the selling starts the share price will drop like a stone I`m now into HRN at 183p looking for a rise to 240p This is a very well managed Co with great takeover potential as its main handicap is global reach....... Cheers | gerry321
26/1/2006 12:01 | Well we're above it Gerry so I'm glad I stayed in. You still a holder ? | m4m
17/1/2006 13:35 | Nope bang on 74.5 yet again and I've got a twitchy finger ;) | m4m
16/1/2006 12:09 | Board of Directors of Avis Europe plc received notification on 16 January 2006, pursuant to sections 198 - 202 of the Companies Act 1985, that Fidelity International Limited (FIL) and its direct and indirect subsidiaries, being non-beneficial holders, now hold 110,567,623 ordinary shares in the Company representing 12.01% of its issued ordinary share capital. This should push them up a bit. | saggy
09/1/2006 18:21 | 74.5 is proving strong resistance eh | m4m
22/12/2005 22:56 | Que Hello........from aru thread Your ave conclusions are correct in my opinion........ D`Ieteren stated in June /July that they will not sell their 60% stake bought at approx 80p (post rights) before 31 Dec 05 However the most likely buyer Avis inc will be demerged from Cendant in mid 2006 and could only afford to reunite the global avis brand if they had a pre deal to be bought out subsequently by venture capitalists a la Hertz earlier in 2005 This is a speculation too far for me and I read the current trading statement a window dressing for a struggling Co........ I now reckon D`Ieteren will hang onto AVE as long as the cost of keeping them is above the cost of selling at a loss.....ie below 80p and hence I do not see the share price rising much above 70p short in the next 6m thankfully I`m now out of ave having went from minus 20% to plus 20%.... Cheers | gerry321
21/12/2005 19:34 | On reading and re-reading the AVE updates from 15th. Dec., you would instinctively and understandably want to get out. But the price goes up. Why? Have to admit - I haven't figured it out yet....... But my guess is that it has something to do with either D'Ieteren and/or Avis Inc. | quepassa |
