Car hire is what it is.

They buy at heavily discounted rates direct from the manufacturer and hire them out for a profit, in theory.

Avis is a well respected company, but its a very competetive market, and with the pound as weak as it is makes more people stay in the UK for holidays which will affect their business significantly.

DISL (sells motorhomes and caravans) is a much better bet with UK holidays on the increase this year.

Up 24% now, which makes the chart look a bit more favourable.

It's the debt that will kill it. Noone on here has been able to explain the business model to me....do they buy the fleet of cars or lease them...if they buy then we all know how rapidly and severely new cars depreciate....borrow £5 to buy a £5 car....2 months later it is worth £3 and the lender wants his £5 back....if you get me....always chasing debt....never repaying it...even £30m profit per annum is nothing when you have a £1billion debt pile to erase.....

Can anyone spin this another way....a positive way?

I sold a couple of days ago. Its the debt that worries me to be honest.

it won't triple for a company with over £1billion debt, eroding market and global economic meltdown!

it could be an overhang, the stock value could triple from here if that overhang is cleared. Results are out on 4th March.

and who could afford to inherit £1billion quid of debt? I presume someone on here understands the business model and can therefore explain the debt situation..is it simply used to fund the fleet....as we all know that cars devalue big time so how can that debt ever be repaid?

cyclingnut - put like that its a one way street to the morg'. Still I can't help but think that car rental has potential. When people can't afford to own their own cars perhaps thet might hire! Having said that you do not want to start with a debt of £1billion.
