that long list of sells amounting to over 6 million shares should be cause for concern!

761M SHARES are tightly held by institutions, I think that is the reason it is moving wildly on either direction on little volumes.

rubbish....3 big sells of over 2,000,000 shares each during the last week so plenty of shares available to purchase!

It looks like there are very few stock available in the market. That is why with small volume, big movement is on either way

so are we saying that the majority of the debt is just simply loans to cover the leasing of the fleet?

Total tosh. The company has been badly managed for a number of years and is being squeezed out by its competitors.I'd love to hire their cars but even with the shareholder discount they come a poor second to the likes of Hertz and Auto-Europe.Customer Care? O behave! Check previous posts from myself and others. In my humble opinion its now a total basket case. They have got rid of a fair few of the old management, who were extremely well paid whilst in post, but alas to late to make any difference.Save your money, save yourselves!!

people on anther website comment it being severely undervalue stock.

here is one of the real investors's opinion on Avis

Plenty of misguided blogging here. I can tell you that the company has a clear strategy for going through a downturn and the impact of increasing prices flows directly to the bottom line, especialy as the competition is either finding getting cars difficult at 2007 prices or more importantly has a large risk fleet and therefore losing a grand on every car they sell from June this year to at least mid 09. Any company that has high gearing, exposure to discretionary consumer spend and exposure to the auto makers woes is going to be down graded. This isn't a surprise but it isn't necessarily reflective of the businesses core strength vs rivals.

Avis is ahead on technology, sales and customer service and has its funding in place until 2010 and 2011 unlike others who are going to struggle to refinance.
This week's announcements are the mark of a company that tackles the issues rather than buries their head in the sand. I have a decent portfolio of their stock and comfortably predict they'll be a good mid term bet and expect them back to 40pence by next summer.
If I had plenty of spare money, I'd be buying.

rob,

all they are doing is playing with the spread....on a daily basis....
