19th. June edition Shares magazine. Page 9.

Article headed " Avesco's payout power" continues that

" The re-rating at media group Avesco has further to run" citing the Edison research, a potential 7p divi in 2015 which is more than double the 3p forecast by the market and equiv to a juicy yield of 6.4%, in anticipation of the firm's European restructuring.

Encouraging votes of confidence by Edison and Shares mag.

I very much respect your opinion.

Maybe they did at one time contemplate taking it private at what was a give-away price in the midst of the appalling financial crisis. We'll never know the answer to that question. If they did contemplate it, can you blame them? -All that is however ancient history.

Like many companies, Avesco was one of the babies that had been thrown out with the bathwater in the financial meltdown. And as many of the now tenbagger private investors on this board will appreciate, at that price Avesco was with hindsight a real gift. Count yourself lucky that Avesco wasn't hypothetically taken private at a cheap price.

In respect of Disney, who could genuinely ever have predicted the outcome of some litigation which started 5-10 years ago? Do you think when the litigation started ,that Avesco would know it would turn out favourably? Even 4 years ago, it was a complete and total unknown and there have been countless US Court appeals. If you are suggesting that more than 5 years ago, Avesco knew as the David against the mighty Goliath of Disney that they would win, I must take issue with you.

On your other point, I think on the contrary that Avesco have come to appreciate that your financial well-being is indeed a top priority.

Avesco have been an early mover in my opinion amongst the more established of the AIM fraternity to realise that your financial well-being is EXTREMELY good for their financial well-being.

If Avesco treat PI's well, this has a dramatic influence on the share price -Avesco's progressive dividend policy in this respect is to be highly lauded. As indeed their fair treatment of shareholders on the Disney pay-out in my view.

Ask yourself what is better for the financial well-being of the esteemed Chairman, Richard Murray who owns some 30% of the Company. - A contented group of PI's and a buoyant share price of c. 105p or a dissatisfied shareholder base where the share price may be significantly lower?

The Chairman has a lot of money tied up in Avesco. Do you think it is in his interest to see a buoyant share price or the contrary?

This is one of the reasons why it can be interesting to hunt out AIM stocks where the management have a lot of skin in the game.

Let's hope that Avesco have a prosperous 2014 year.

QuePasa - ask yourself, when did you first become aware of the Walt Disney litigation? Now ask yourself, when did the Directors first become aware of the Walt Disney litigation? Yes, I agree that the Directors did exactly what they said they were going to do with regard to the special dividend but I still maintain that they were slow to alert us to the possibility of a bumper payout in the first place, and you have to ask yourself why that was so. I well remember that in the wake of the 2008 crisis there were many small companies taken private at valuations that subsequently looked like robbery, and I strongly suspect that if Taya had not popped up when it did then AVESCO would have been yet another statistic . I have enormous respect for Richard Murray but I am not stupid enough to think that my financial well being is top of his list of priorities !

And just for the record I have been involved here since the turn of the century !

My view is quite different.

I have the impression that Avesco treat shareholders very fairly and have a good ethical approach towards PI's and disclose information openly.

They kept entirely to their word in the Disney special dividend payout and have a progressive dividend policy of rewarding shareholders rather than the Directors awarding themselves humungous bonuses instead at the expense of shareholders.

It seems to me that Avesco fully alerted that there were some difficulties in Germany which, after all, is rather a small part of their business.

Nor was the Company quick to alert shareholders to the possibility of a windfall from the Walt Disney litigation when the share price was sliding down towards 20p some four or five years ago. At the time I thought that the management was engineering a cheap and cheeky privatisation, and it was only the arrival of TAYA on the scene that prevented shareholders from being taken advantage of. Left a bit of a sour taste in my mouth even though I cannot be anything other than happy with the ultimate outcome.

Interesting reading that Red Corner Report. The following sentence caught my eye:
"The team in CT Germany up and left to start their own shop at the end of 2012 and Avesco has been (and probably will continue to be) unable to regain the lost revenue stream there."

Looking pack at RNS releases it took the company until 4th June 2013 to state:
"Our businesses in Germany have also suffered from difficult market conditions and the departure of some key staff"

So we were notified of the issue months late by a statement that was economical with the truth. I don't wish to overstate the importance of this particular business incident but a little more transparency would be welcome going forward. Personally I'd rather discover the truth from the company rather than via an anonymous blog, albeit an honest and well written one.
Addendum: the company did reveal more in the final results though that was still a year after the event. We'll no doubt get a better idea of the size of the ongoing restructuring charge in the interims.

" Valuation: Asset Backed, attractive yield"

according to an interesting Company Update issued this morning by Edison.

The report mentions a "Re-focused business" and a prospective yield of 5.2% and that the shares stand at a 37% discount to 2014e NAV.

This piece of interesting research can be found on the Edison web-site.

Trading likely on the contrary to be very strong this year.

Didn't Avesco say they were dropping quarterly reporting which had been a requirement of major shareholder, Taya, after their recent departure?

Read The Red Corner which is an outstanding commentary and blog on Avesco. There is a link two posts back.

"In recent years the Company has been reporting its financial results on a quarterly basis to enable Taya to comply with Taya's own reporting obligations on the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange. After completion of the Share Buy-Back, the Company will be able to revert to producing its financial results on a biannual basis which will remove a management and administrative burden."

There doesn't seem to have been a 1st quarter trading update as has been normal in previous years around mid march alongside the AGM. A possible sign of poor trading perhaps? Was anyone at AGM?
