Avanti seem well connected with the government having attended committees and also received grant funding for Hylas 1.

Perhaps Avanti wrote Gordons speech!!

Broadband news very topical. First question at Prime Minister`s Question Time yesterday relating to lack of broadband access for Scottish Highlands with Brown reiterating the governments promise of investment.

Avanti hopefully helping out in the near future. Solid shareprice this week.

Results due out 5th Feb and will hopefully highlight the already obtained funding for the second satelite which will be of much higher capacity of the first satelite and reinforces the Cenkos share valuation of over 1300p per share.

Equity Development on their web site say fair value is 830p to 1100p per share and RHPS has raised its price target to 800p.

Nice. I like the demand squeeze, customers will start to fall over themselves to secure capacity.

chrissey - a report from the satellite communications industry at the end of 2005 stated:

'Even with the high-visibility afforded such events, the reliability record of commercial GEO satellites from Intelsat and others remains high and the failure rate overall continues to drop. This is evident from a simple review of satellite history between 1997 and 2005, illustrated below. Out of the total of 170 satellites launched during this period, only 10 experienced total or near total failure. That's a failure rate of 6%, far less than the design criteria used by satellite manufacturers.'

I imagine that the failure rate has dropped even more since then.

* Vega light launcher, to be operated at the Guiana Space Center starting in 2010-2011.

The launch company Arriane (see their web site) has had over 30 consecutive successful launches. Launch failures appear to be a rare event these days.So fingers crossed.

with two satellites now financed the impact of any loss on first satellite would be relatively small
