13/7/2011 14:36 | I don't know where this Data explorer outfit comes from all of a sudden but it is simply not possible that anyone can provide reliable data. No-one is obliged to report to any one info on a short position. It is even difficult getting info on long positions from registers because most stocks are held in nominee accounts. | ![]() blackberrydrop

08/7/2011 09:50 | the chart has a much healthier tone and I believe we have broken the downtrend. 450p didn't provide that much support on the way down, so I don't think it will pose much resistance on the way up. that said it's an obvious place for the uptrend to take a breather. 500p and 600p look more like the key resistance points to be aware of. | ![]() backmarker
08/7/2011 09:45 | jeffian, forgive me, but I'm not sure your understanding of "close period" is entirely accurate. here are a couple of definitions that may help. as you will see, it has more to do with restricting directors and insiders share dealings than an embargo on trading updates, and its duration is linked to the date of publication of results rather than the date of the end of a financial period ================= A close period is a period, usually of two months, prior to the release of results during which directors and other insiders are not allowed to trade in a company's shares. It is also usual for companies to refrain from making other price sensitive announcements (e.g. trading statements) during the close period. This is not required, but it is usually regarded as good practice. Many companies issue a trading statement immediately before the start of the close period so that investors have information that is as up to date as possible during the close period. It is always possible for a company to be overtaken by events and put in a position that makes it necessary to make an announcement during the close period. ==================== What Does Close Period Mean? The time period between the completion of a company's balance sheet and the announcing of the results to the public. Investopedia explains Close Period Typically occurring for the two months preceding an earnings announcement, the close is a period during which insiders are not permitted to transact a company's shares. ==================== | ![]() backmarker
08/7/2011 09:39 | 30 June is the year-end for this company, so I would not expect the Annual Results before 3 months but more probably in 5 months around December like last year. however I would expect a trading update. most companies issue these a few weeks after the end of a quarter. our last one was 18th April, so I'm expecting one in late July. | ![]() backmarker
08/7/2011 08:17 | Still holding our gains and moving on back towards 450p :-) | ![]() yorgi
07/7/2011 16:53 | jeffian - i dont think that is correct lots of companies issue a trading update a week or two after their year end and before the numbers are completely finalised a recent example on AIM is Blinkx | ![]() geheimnis2
07/7/2011 16:38 | I doubt you will get a trading update as we are now in a 'close period' until the results are announced. Those companies that do update usually issue a 'pre-close update' just prior to their year-end, but this date has passed for AVN. | ![]() jeffian
