Still lots of uncertainty about where the company stands against the competition

Can you explain "lots of uncertainty" cos I'm quite relaxed about prospects.

with spreadbets you are not selling stock, you are placing a bet that the price will move in one direction or the other

Blue Forever - you need to be in possession of something before you can sell it so the stock is borrowed, at a cost, so that it can be sold in the market but at some point it will need to be bought back so that it can be given back to its owner

Because you can just buy the stock in the market.

If you short a stock you don't own,you have to borrow the stock.

THX1138 - Agreed. It will be an interesting few days to see how things pan out between bulls and bears. I hope it doesn't rise too steeply otherwise Mr Cawkwell may be tempted to start snapping his jaws again.

I doubt he would buy this one. This is the sort of stock that is perfect to play short. It is not a very liquid stock and the slightest negative sentiment can wipe out previous gains overnight. Still lots of uncertainty about where the company stands against the competition so no doubt we'll have a bumpy ride until things become more transparent.

This can easily jump back to over 500p as the results approach.

Shorts will be nervous, because they have no idea what the management might spring.

And conversely any movement to the upside might be quite strong if sentiment has changed and positions are closed.
