That was a RHPS tip, TB has been tipping these for years and has a buy limit of 750p for now, as more contracts roll in he will no doubt increase his limit.
Avanti will cover Europe , Asia and Africa so even if white space works which is doubtful and how reliable will it be? there will be plenty of area's that will not be in range of a signal, there is a potential market of 100 million subscribers not including military and systems backup, telecoms ect. HYLAS1 only has a capacity of 350,000 subscribers, a mere fraction. Broadband via satellite is far safer and is virtually impossible to hack into.

buck581 -- we already saw and analysed the prospects of that re-use of analogue networks - and concluded it was not a serious threat.

sigh, they're everywhere tonight.
Let's stick with the facts. The last sentence doesn't even appear to be written in English.

I nicked this quote from my share tip magazine. Might explain why there have been more sellers around than we expected.

Meanwhile, a trial is under way in Pembrokeshire to see whether the radio spectrum freed up by the switch-over to digital TV could be used to deliver broadband to remote areas.

This, it has been suggested, could compete with satellite transmission. I am no techie, but this idea has been around for many years and is unlikely to be without its challenges. This is something to keep an eye on, but I doubt that Avanti would have expressed such great confidence about future demand for its services if it regarded this is as a serious threat

well that little eod pop sure polished up the daily candle!
nice.

piedro, there was likely some shorting to fill a gap that was left on the chart, this has now been filled, there's a girth of great news flow, solid fundamentals, broker upgrades, a great heavily in demand sector, and now a handsome looking chart.

I really would feel bullish from here for the new year, and expect those with short term short positions left over from the gap fill would cash in before xmas... which may of been a little of what that pop was at the end of today, and this morning.
We may see more of that tomorrow, and that number quoted of borrowed stock decreasing.

I would also expect avn to feature well in new year roundups.

smarm,
the only point that I was making is that I do not totally understand the significance of the 'no. of shares out on loan' as it would seem, from comments on other bbs, that this measure is not only due to 'shorting' but may be the result of other factors.

I would be grateful if someone knowledgeable on the subject would clarify the issue as both 'rampers' and 'derampers' make claims that a share is being 'shorted' or not, (as recently on this bb), without giving any evidence but sometimes referring to the above measure.

piedro - shares out on loan ARE those being shorted and clearly the number has risen from 0.5% to 1%. What point are you trying to make?

Ladies and gents, I think it's time for me to leave it there. AVN is all tucked up and safe until Santa has been (I hope he doesn't crash into Hylas1 on his travels!!) Thanks for the craik and I wish you all a very happy Xmas and a guid new year. Here's to more fun and games in 2011 - this time next year (and it will come soon) we will be looking forward to the next launch! Talk to you after the hols. take care of those dear to you.

2350220,

I'm a bit dim also.
There are those 'gurus' on the bbs who claim that the no. of shares out on loan is indicative of the shares being shorted.
True or false?
I leave it for the 'price watchers' to decide

LOL!

Blue - details of AGM and resolutions are on page 56 of the Annual Accounts & Report 2010 - a translation would be useful but standard stuff as far as i can see.

having been away for 2 weeks it was interesting to come back to a falling share price

however the charts suggested that this might be just a normal in-trend correction and an opportunity for a small top-up. having disposed of a small holding in another stock, AVN looked the best home for the cash. looks like I may have called it right for once.

while I was a bit disappointed that this stock didn't get a bit higher after the succesful launch, there can be little doubt of its upwards potential. as I've learned with many other stocks, provided you are patient and keep focussed on the potential then, unless some left-field event requires a re-assessment, the value will eventually start to be realised.

I fully expect that AVN will figure in more than one list of "Shares Tips for 2011" and it's not unrealistic - with some supporting news - to see these making a new high before the end of January. a 50+% re-rate by end-2011 is also feasible, and while there will be plenty of stocks that may beat that I shall be more than happy with that return on what is 20% of my portfolio.

a merry Xmas and happy new year to everyone.

Blue - knew and forgot about it.

peedlep - it's a dilemma but if you don't follow your stop and it keeps going down then you would feel very stupid. Better to sell and buy back, higher if needs be. You might lose a few £££'s along the way but you will stay safe.
