19/12/2012 17:35 | "I will not be banning people for thought out reasoned argument." Blimey Yorgi, if I had thought out reasoning I wouldn't have stayed in Avanti or got into half the other stocks I own!!! All the best for Christmas, John | ![]() 2350220
19/12/2012 17:19 | It would not be towards "blues" only in any way AA29..........but if the majority dont want an updated BB then I won't change it I will go with the consensus. It would of course give a chance to revise the title by introducing the fact we now have two satellites in operation now. | ![]() yorgi
19/12/2012 17:09 | Sorry yorgi, it's an answer but I still don't see any reason to move towards 'blues' only (however slightly) which is the way it would seem to me anyway . Probably something to do with the objectors both having watched Chester football at some stage !! | ![]() aa29
19/12/2012 17:08 | Yorgi, I thought that "moving from a 'free' board" meant opening a 'premium' board with exclusive access. I would wish to be with many on this board when we get to 'take-off'. In the meantime we watch and wait whilst traders play their 'no-news' talk&tactics. | ![]() lazyj
19/12/2012 16:30 | Yorgi, Many thanks for your efforts. I find this board very informative. We can always rapid scan accross stuff that is posted with ulterior motive. Please don't move onto ADVFN "blues only" When one of my four AIM stocks come good I can consider joining the blues group. Until then the only blues in my life are ChesterFC! ;-) | ![]() lazyj
19/12/2012 16:01 | If there are currently no problems with the way this BB works, why change anything? | ![]() aa29
19/12/2012 15:07 | Yorgi,New board sounds good. | ![]() sg31
19/12/2012 14:34 | Yorgi - I don't think it matters. We are at the stage where the company needs to convert capacity into cash and how well it does that will dictate the share price. A small delta in performance can still mean a big difference in rating, leading to contention between yaysayers and naysayers, but I don't think that will make for an unpleasant or disrupted board. | ![]() hpcg
19/12/2012 13:02 | I'm confused Pabloiom, You've posted this on several threads, then posted that you think TW is the quickest way to lose money! it makes no sense to me why you would choose to post his articles if you genuinely think that . . . which sadly, so do I after my experience with several of his stocks and his funds. 19/12/2012 09:18 | johncsimpson 30 Nov'12 - 14:15 - 449 of 454 . . . . I'm not holding my breath until AVN breaks back up through the 240 / 245 area - and holds. Until then, it's still in a down trend. -------------------- With the passage of time the resistance line in the down trend had fallen to the 230 area but AVN has pushed up and through it last Frisay and then again on Monday. It now remains to be seen if that line will act as support should AVN retrace back. Early indicators today show a slight loss of impetus but in truth all this is taking place during a period of low volume and I'm not overly optimistic of a sustained move up. The balance of probability indicates the retrace scenario back towards 220 and that 'resistance' (or will it become 'support') line. | johncsimpson
17/12/2012 18:04 | Hylas 1 is expected to sell out by mid 2014 so no jam but still substantial revenues by 2014, even on the revised forecasts. | ![]() mjames20
12/12/2012 21:57 | can i suggest if there is to be credability on this thread that TW is left redundant...unless he's available for childrens parties | jennis2002

12/12/2012 11:20 | Thanks Notagain. I had no idea it was that simple. I imagined that you might need several cycles to represent a bit. Does the control information and error correction reduce the actual transfer rate? Is the 11GHz the same up and down? | piadda
12/12/2012 11:13 | 11Ghz = 11000,000,000 bits per second | notagain3
12/12/2012 11:10 | GHz a frequency and 1GHz = 1000,000,000 cycles per second or Hertz. | notagain3
12/12/2012 10:55 | Does anyone know how to convert GHz into bits per sec? I have no idea what 11GHz means in terms of data transfer rates. | piadda
12/12/2012 10:37 | HYLAS 1 has "up to 3GHz" capacity. See www.avantiplc.com/fl "Finally I am pleased to announce that HYLAS 2 has completed all test and commissioning activities, and is now open for business in all beams and territories. Following a successful campaign, we have also verified that the conservative engineering margins that were built into our plans are no longer necessary. This means that we now have 11GHz of capacity available for sale to customers, rather than the 9GHz originally planned." See www.londonstockexcha "HYLAS 3 will have up to 4GHz of Ka band capacity....The advantage of entering into a joint venture agreement with ESA is that Avanti reduces costs relating to the satellite platform, launch vehicle, insurance and project management. These savings would mean that Avanti would benefit from a satellite project cost per GHz that is over 40 per cent. cheaper than HYLAS 2." See www.londonstockexcha | garymott |
