The chart is looking bad , the share price hasn't closed below 240p since June 2009 , at the moment it's at 236p , we need a late rally .

Square Mile figures .... less than 5% which is not much of a change?

Makes me wonder if a strongly followed pundit could ...
1. Short sell and then publicise it.
2. Advise followers to do new shorts.
3. Wait until near close date - whether fixed date or the price is right.
4. Repeat 1 and 2 to produce a further drop - though 1 is a lie?
5. Close your short.

The numbers suggest this - 3M to 5M initially on loan but still at 5M!
Against that - Square Mile may not have seen the extra shorts yet.

At £2.35/£2.38 , small spread?, I am so tempted to do a large T20 buy.
But T20 is possibly too early at the current rate of news. Not even sure if I'd plump for T50 if there was such a thing.

We need to collectively give the shorters a fright by buying high numbers at bargain prices ..... the price is ripe .... soon it will be over ripe .... why doesn't this board see how dopey they are behaving? Their whole answer to the drop is to buy a few shares themselves - a strong RNS containing a tiny bit of enthusiasm (surely they have that) is needed.

Off to find a bigger soapbox!

The company needs to make about £11m of sales each month to meet its target of filling capacity on HYLAS 1 by 2014 and HYLAS 2 by 2016. The figures indicate it is on track to do just that.

So why haven't they got the most magnificent list of customers to show us since they stopped putting them out piecemeal? DW is the new Nero - instead of Rome it is the share price that is burning. Even if they are on a back-log - what a stupid way to describe it - what is wrong with advanced orders which sounds more positive? - I think a list of take up dates and the value of the contracts would make great reading. Investors will look at the value ( many tens of millions? ) more intently than the date surely? Currently, they don't have a clue of the worth but know it is in the future whenever that is? The negative thinking will extend the dates past reality perhaps?

I look forward to the violin being put into the loft!!!

Colva - totally agree. It's all about leadership from actions. As the famous saying goes actions speak louder than words.

The trouble is that the market doesn't seem to believe them, whatever they say. The only measure of performance which is unarguable is cashflow and now that 2 satellites are floating round out there cash should become visible if they are making the sales they say they are.

AVN issues "Interim Management Statements in May and November". That means this week. The share price could move rapidly, either way of course, depending on how this news is received by the market.

All Mr Cawkwell's recent Avanti action seems to be based on what's on here

Recent results did leave an open door to be pushed against.

"Finally, on Friday I again sold Avanti Communications (AVN) short. This is beginning to smell very fishy indeed."

Haile Selassie I (Ge'ez: ኃይለ;፡ ሥላሴ;, "Power of the Trinity"[1]) (23 July 1892 – 27 August 1975), born Tafari Makonnen,[2] was Ethiopia's regent from 1916 to 1930 and Emperor of Ethiopia from 1930 to 1974. He was the heir to a dynasty that traced its origins to the 13th century, and from there by tradition back to King Solomon and Queen Makeda, Empress of Axum, known in the Abrahamic tradition as the Queen of Sheba. Haile Selassie is a defining figure in both Ethiopian and African history.[3][4]

HYLAS (or HYLAS-1) is a British satellite in geostationary orbit. HYLAS, which is an acronym for Highly Adaptable Satellite

Glenn : What does Hylas mean?
DW : It does not mean very much!

What a salesman! We really do need a frontman who'll create some excitement about our business. I have been looking for a straight CEO for my investments but this one is so dead pan it is unreal. There must be another side we don't see for him to have got this project off the ground. Why doesn't he sound happy? His achievements to get this far ought to make him delirious (and us worth £5 a share or maybe more). I am sure he is a good man and will make us a fortune if we have not died of boredom by then.

Tom,if you are going to keep spamming these boards at least get your facts right...

HYLAS 2 which in turn is tiny when compared to HYLAS 3.

No it's not, Hylas 3 is smaller than H2. Have a word with David he will put you right.

It was good to hear about Hylas4 and Hylas5. Both will be dedicated to Africa. That sounds very confident about the capacity being filled on Hylas2. I was chatting to someone living in South Africa who say that their broadband is currently very slow, very intermittent and very expensive. He just has no other choice currently.
