Good news on the technology, share price dissappointing. I'm guessing we need some news now to get this moving?

At least this Satellite looks much more like a proper Satellite, as opposed to Hylas 1 which looked like a Blue Peter BacoFoil job IMHO.

Here's Post 539 in which SomeYouWin posted a picture:

All the best,

Nice find Nightspot.
Funny enough, I checked out the excellent Satellite tracking site the other day, and it showed Hylas 2 over the mid Atlantic!
Anyway, it now looks like it's back where it belongs, above Uganda.

We are now below the price where the 'flash crash' stopped me out so I'm more than likely going to buy them back tomorrow price permitting.

Good article in todays times about Africa and telecommunications. Economies growing at 6%, Mobile phone internet usage up 20% year on year. Huge silicon valley in nigeria and the opportunities available. Doesnt mention Avanti but all good news and reasuring none the less

.

what I want to see - and I guess the market does, too - is the sales revenue going up but the cost of sales remaining stable, leading to increasing CASH in, and hence profit. all the utterances of the directors that AVN is "on target" for sales gives me great confidence, but it has said little about cost of sales.
---------------------------

I dont think the directors would of bought stock(big money buys) when they did if they did not think that they can reach targets, the share price is down at these levels for 1 reason and that's the general market maliaze...when that clears we will see the stock over £10 leading into H3

Nightspot,

Thanks for your reply.
I am only able to find the helpful explanation of the process and steps that are needed to set Hylas2 to its correct position.
Last Hylas2 update I can find is 6th August.

Re my little competition.

In my 'rules' I said the price as shown at 17:00 GMT would be used to judge the winner but it's not going to 'settle' that much to change things. So well done to divanausa1 who is the outright 'winner' and also to hpcg who was a very, very close second.

Brownie point to you both.

That said, even these predictions were 5% above the actual price and the rest of us were all at least 10% out.

But I hope it added a bit of interest to the events of the past 10 days or so and I still think AVN will be a good investment over the next few years though clearly it will be prone to price swings as contracts etc. are announced.

I agree that all the comments about revenues are pretty much the key. The market needs to see some more evidence that AVN's technology can deliver on its business plan.

The doubters and shorters sowed seeds of doubt last year and it seems it is going to take clear evidence to reverse that. Providing all does go as expected and the revenues rise and accordingly profits then this price will have been a bargain looking back.

At the moment Kimball would appear to have been right yesterday :-)

Perhaps then consider AV at over 8% dividend yield which I also hold in my SIPP :-)

I think investors are confusing November 2010 (the first sat launch) with today. Back then it was a dash for trash which included a lot of loss making, small hot potential growth stocks and emerging markets. Mainly because the Fed unleashed another round of QE. Today everybody's chasing the big, old, dinosaur, dividend paying shares. Perhaps QE3 and a few good earnings reports would give the share price a massive boost.

hpcg/backmarker,

I did speak to Sean Watherston in IR a little while back asking for more clarity on costs and backlog split between HY1 and HY2. He indicated that future updates would carry more information but I did not see this in the July update.

I expect that sales costs to date re HY2 are stored up in the balance sheet and have not yet been expensed to P&L, and, quite correctly will not be, until HY2 is operational. Therefore I do expect cost of sales to grow, but very quickly be outstripped by revenue growth. So I am expecting cash flow to be positive in 2013 athough we may show a small loss as depreciation of HY2 kicks in even though we will be operating at only a fraction of full capacity in yr1 of operation.

I believe the cashflow turnaround will be a game changer as that will make a hugh difference to perception in the market. If the directors come out in the next few weeks forcasting this, I think we'll all be wearing big smiles!
