24/12/2009 08:11 | I believe that bid or no bid it puts AUG on notice that it might be next! | azalea
24/12/2009 08:00 | confirmation of the Shanks bid approach, all good for Augean.... | chrisdgb
23/12/2009 09:25 | some nice steady buying now, wonder when new level reached..?? | chrisdgb
22/12/2009 21:38 | If you go on to the press release section of their website you will see they have had two releases for this month alone; not earth shattering news and not sure if this reflects more activity by them or a more proactive news management policy. | cerrito

22/12/2009 10:10 | surprised the good news has not gone down more positively... | chrisdgb
22/12/2009 07:58 | Nice announcement today, like the last sentence: "Following Augean's recent successful fundraising, this new revolving credit facility further strengthens the financial position of the Group. Furthermore, we are very pleased to be working with HSBC, one of the world's largest banking institutions and with whom we look forward to enjoying a long and close relationship. This is good news for Augean's shareholders, not only reducing uncertainty but also increasing our flexibility as we continue to work towards our strategic objectives. "With the placing and refinancing completed the business is now fully invested and focused on delivering return on investment and value from its assets." | chrisdgb
21/12/2009 08:57 | Augean is certainly in my stocks for 2010, we got over the 100p level the last time the company was in bid talks.. | chrisdgb
17/12/2009 10:40 | Looks like several PI are already placing their bets in notable volumes, lets hope they will cause MM to start scampering around for stock. Given that AUG is only one of two UK listed waste management companies, if SKS falls, any other bidders will have to fight amongst tmemselves for what is left.Hmmn! PS.Have to confess, what I have not thought about until now is where are the holders in SKS going to put their money IF the bid succeeds? | azalea
17/12/2009 09:27 | LBO A firm bid will very likely rub off a bit on AUG, whilst some pundits will no doubt make or dismiss a case for the latter whose list of major holders is much bigger and certainly long in the tooth. | azalea
17/12/2009 08:43 | After a lengthy break I have bought back in here....looks an interesting base following the fund raising.. | chrisdgb
16/12/2009 22:35 | Takeover competition for Shanks, the waste management group, has increased this week with news that GDF Suez are set to make a firm bid | lbo
14/12/2009 08:16 | The loser might turn to AUG? | azalea
13/12/2009 18:08 | Dec. 13 (Bloomberg) -- Covanta Holding Corp., a U.S. developer of waste-to-energy plants, may be considering a bid for Shanks Group Plc, following an approach by leveraged-buyout firm Carlyle Group, the Observer said, citing unidentified peopl | lbo
08/12/2009 22:18 | The Shanks share price surged by 42% yesterday (December 7th) as private equity firm Carlyle Group emerged as the potential suitor for the business. Amidst current difficulties in the economic environment and in funding markets, such a deal validates the underlying drivers in the broader waste management sector and is as such a positive for One51's environmental services division. In addition, the mooted EV/EBITDA multiples of 7.9-8.4x (upper valuation being management's estimate) underpin valuations across the sector and support potential upside to One51's current valuation, which trades approximately 50% below our own (albeit dated) target. One51 management last spoke to the market during the summer when it reiterated guidance for the full year 2009. This called for EBITDA (before exceptionals) of some 15-20% below 2008 levels this would be a robust performance given the trading environment. At the interim stage, EBITDA (before exceptionals) of 24.4m was generated. This compared with 30m in the same period last year. However, EBITDA margins rose by 220bps to 15.2%, largely due to cost initiatives taken by the company during the period. Reported net debt fell to 191.3m from 198.5m at the end of 2008. As of June 2009, capital employed was distributed as follows: environmental services (63%), renewable energy (15%), infrastructure (11%), food and distribution (3%) and other investments (8%). | lbo
08/12/2009 08:03 | I now believe that Utilico's apppearance on 30/9,with a 14.82% stake may not have been a simple straight forward investment. | azalea
07/12/2009 22:57 | Or "the tap" could be One51! LBO - 1 Nov'09 - 09:40 - 1532 of 1545 edit One51 -- everything or nothing | lbo
07/12/2009 17:20 | Azalea - I suggest that they were not all buys. Some look like matched trades, esp. the 526,400 @ 8:41; and the 130k exactly an hour later @ 9:41. The tap will be one of the placees @ 38p on 30th Sept. Once he is exhausted, IMO this will move quite sharply better. Tomorrow could be the last chance to get cheap stock. | skyship
07/12/2009 12:52 | A whopping 1.5% bought(no sells) but up just 1p; however, if this continues the MM will have to raise the bid as the shares in freefloat diminish. The difference between SKS & AUG is of course the former has no large major holders to overcome,151 would be looking for 150p just to break even on its stake. LBO You are right of course about SKS getting taken out; in that event AUG days as an independent could well be numbered and merely a question of price. Given that SKS has rejected 135p, with pundits suggesting that 150p might 'swing it', it will be interesting to see if there are any valuations of AUG put about in the coming days. PS, Interesting to see the very narrow spread - a sign that the MM are already looking for stock. | azalea
07/12/2009 11:10 | Today's approach for Shanks (see below) directed me back here. Could be premature but the Risk/Reward seems to favour a play @ 40p - so back in hoping for a 25% run to 50p target. Today's volume convinced me that the stock has turned... free stock charts from www.advfn.com | skyship
01/12/2009 10:51 | Waste management firm Augean has applied to bury low-level radioactive waste at its waste site in the village, which is also used to get rid of other waste such as asbestos | lbo
19/11/2009 16:21 | A perhaps suprising defensive element in AUG as the markets take a bit of a hit today. | azalea
12/11/2009 07:47 | With the share price circa 40% below its 12 month high, £113k shares bought by directors in a placing @ 38p in September, the announcement today of further buying @ 43p, 80% of shares in major holders hands, an increase in ptx of 50% forecast for 2010 and signs of an economic recovery, I think there is now a good case for buying into AUG. | azalea |
