26/1/2009 10:35 | Down heavily on no news - Any rumours out there? | pugugly
22/1/2009 15:12 | Augean moving into waste recovery | lbo
15/12/2008 10:41 | The weak sterling should make Augean more appealing to One51 but I doubt the credit crunch does! | lbo
03/12/2008 11:17 | In these uncertain times I have sold on the rise today at a profit. | azalea
01/12/2008 09:29 | Been having a look as to see whether to buy sell or hold., I am assuming that given the current situation there will be no offer or if there is one it will be under £1. The current financial climate will presumably mean that they will not be able to sell off the non hazardous landfills an idea which they floated in their interim statements. The current weakness in construction is one assumes impacting the volume going through their landfill. I note that they have extended their working capital facilities till end 2009 but also note that they need to repay £4528k of long term debt in 2009 and this in the context that H108 free cash flow was only £0.5mie they have very little financial flexibility and presumably the infill acquisitions they have been making are off the table None of this suggests an increase in the price I note their confidence that at least their year about the underlying strength of the business and that they should make in the order of £4.2mPBT and on the basis they pay no tax and there are 65m shares gives them a pe of about 11x-albeit a crude measure but nothing to set the world on fire; clutching at straws somewhat the current £ weakness against the Euro presumably means less get sent abroad and the government did not backtrack on the implementation of the November 11 mixing pits directive though given AUG not having their tanks ready as I understand means they cannot take full advantage of it. The reason despite all the above that I am not selling is I think long term they are well positioned but anything above 80p may well make me sell. Appreciate the comments of others. | cerrito
23/11/2008 17:30 | A press article reports that the value of recycled plastic has fallen from £200 a ton to virtually nothing as demand from China evaporates. Already one council has halted the recycling of non rigid plastic at the majority of its sites, which instead will now be sent to landfill sites. Households are being asked to avoid products with excessive plastic packaging. Other councils are expected to follow suit. This has to be good news for AUG. | azalea
18/11/2008 12:19 | GAM increase again...Why are they so keen? | lbo
14/11/2008 14:09 | Looking good. Edit: Any mopping up of the few shares in free float, will produce a disproportionate rise in the share price Every cloud has its silver lining. Edit: With an expectation of a 0.5% base rate cut by the EU next month in response to it officially entering into a recession, the value of the euro is likely to weaken and could give 151 ltd the impetus to put in a bid sooner rather than later. It is now being suggested that in the coming months the integrity of the monetary union and the value of EU membership could be significantly tested. Interesting times! | azalea

06/11/2008 10:13 | As a Shanks shareholder I was reading their interims this morning and as a AUG sharholder was disturbed to read the following Shanks comment. Quote The downturn in the UK construction market has adversely impacted our Hazardous Waste activities which comprise the contaminated land services business. Here the number of site decontamination jobs from general construction activities is down substantially and we have reduced our headcount to reduce costs. On a more positive note, during the first half year we handled 120k tonnes of soil from the 2012 Olympic site clean up offsetting the decline in profit from the underlying business. We expect activity from the general UK construction market to remain depressed in the medium term, but equally expect activity from the Olympic site clean up to continue into 2009/10. The economic slowdown in construction activities has also impacted contaminated soil inputs into our joint venture landfills. Despite this slowdown, increased power generation at our Avondale joint venture has delivered solid overall growth in trading profit for the Landfill and Power activity. unquote | cerrito
30/10/2008 20:02 | IC With corporate activity at a nadir right now there are few M&A rumours shifting shares, but hazardous waste disposal business Augean appears to have attracted interest - rising 23 per cent in a week. Augean has been in discussions with potential buyers since August, but its shares had slipped recently on a lack of newsflow. Buyers may be betting on a bid, or simply may have been tempted by the fact that Augean's shares have fallen so far below the perceived value of its hazardous landfill sites and treatment businesses. Augean has a significant 27 per cent shareholder, One51, which paid well north of 100p a share for its stake. Its shares offer speculative good value at 76p | lbo
24/10/2008 17:25 | AUG must have felt very lonely today being one of the few in the 'blue'. | azalea

23/10/2008 22:22 | It seems One51 has plenty of cash and is still continuing to pursue its acquisition targets. | lbo

22/10/2008 17:51 | The fall back reflects the treacherous markets - causing sellers to sell on the rise. IF we do not hear anything tomorrow, I expect more to run for the exit. | azalea
22/10/2008 16:10 | A 20,400 delayed buy at 93p just showed up. MMs trying to fill an order? | lbo
22/10/2008 11:30 | Well what a coincidence, eh? GS pops its head up over the 3% barrier taking its stake over 6% and the share price jumps 20% today. Business must be going great guns at AUG then, who knows we could hear of a bid approach. | azalea
22/10/2008 11:12 | Market down and Augean up 22%! Is a bid about to be announced? With the current turmoil a bid of only 90p looks like it would be enough. | lbo |
