Erric, don't be too quick to put your cash to work. I suspect some bargains will be cheaper still. (Not ATYM specific)

I think we are all much quieter on this BB because our brains are self-isolating..
So many bargains around at the moment but not many with cash to splurge.

Very quiet on this BB.

Quite unbelievable that this could have gone sub 100p again, even with the permitting issues and price of copper(now showing signs of recovery on the weekly chart basis).

I cannot imagine that there will be any particular surprises in the 2019 accounts,as production seems to be on an upwards trajectory, even with the expansion. Compared with what I saw on my visit there, back in 2019,the site looks unrecognisable: Alberto has been very busy implementing economies of scale.

What a difference, that change of leadership made. Poor old Kefi, saddled with our yesterday's man, sitting in limbo whilst its peer group can now print money in this high POG environment!

OK, yes, I appreciate the permit restoration has been delayed by COVID.

Simply, at a junta and town hall level, there are sometimes changes of mind....

The AAU permit restoration was slated to happen by 13.03.2020 from the TSJA ruling 13.01.2020 with a 2 month deadline on it now passed, we assume all is well and a spanner has been thrown into the works with CV19 impacting Junta workloads, but awaiting news here for confirmation.., the Junta have been known to miss deadlines even without other factors added..

The share price here reflects copper at just over $2.00, temporary mine shutdown, AAU pending, and delayed publication of FY2019 accounts for what should be 2 weeks more (mid April)..

From the January 30 RNS...

"The Junta de AndalucĂa ("JdA") has issued a favorable report in relation to the Unified Environmental Authorization (the "AAU") of Proyecto Riotinto. The AAU is now on a short legal consultation period exclusively with parties involved in the process. After this process is completed, the JdA is expected to issue the validated AAU.

This process will finally resolve all the administrative issues identified in the ruling of the Tribunal Superior de Justicia de AndalucĂa ("TSJA") on 19 September 2018 regarding the AAU."

As to Ormonde....it appears (luckily) that it no longer has Spanish mining interests...

hxxps://www.morningstar.co.uk/uk/news/AN_1578490391865256400/ormonde-tumbles-as-it-plans-escape-route-from-struggling-barruecopardo.aspx

Well out of it...10m Euro 12 month loan at 18%...delayed startup...but almost certainly shut down by now...how long before Saloro runs out of money...however ORM looks like it has 6 million Euros coming to it...

Best off luck...

Yes, thank you for the comments on copper and timing of potential ATYM buys. Really interesting. I rarely invest in commodity/oil stocks: I'm an asset based value investor and there's manifest value in some extraction stocks currently.

Are you absolutely sure their licence will be affirmed at Riotinto?

I've lived in Spain for many years and there can be surprises at Junta level.

I'd be really grateful, if you'd lay out in black and white for a mining ignoramus ie myself, why you are 100% sure that there will be no hitch for Huelva?

PS I've recently bought in to Ormonde Mining, which has Spanish mining interests.

The RioTinto mine is secure...the affirmation of the licence would have been announced by now if not for coronavirus...

My general view is as follows:

Copper will be the third precious metal after gold once the global economy returns to normal and EVS dominate car purchases...ironically this crisis, which has badly stalled car sales, may lead to higher EV purchases than would otherwise have been the case...

More money will be spent on infrastructure projects to kickstart the global economy...power lines and charging networks are an obvious long term investment...China will almost certainly push 'Belt & Road' even harder, because their economy has restarted way before the US will (due to Trump's incompetence...)

With continuing fear about equities and bond yields at all time lows, it is only a matter of time before commodities and property become the chosen investment medium...

The great thing about mining is that when the industry shuts down temporarily the stuff is still in the ground...pushing its ultimate extraction closer to the time when copper prices (and lithium, cobalt, etc.) will boom to all time highs...

While RioTinto is shut down ATMO and I don't see the Toure approval any time soon, There is still plenty to mine in Huelva and I'm convinced there is a whole lot more in or adjacent to the site that is not yet discovered...

The only risks I see are:

1 A prolonged shutdown with the risk of running out of cash (in which case IMHO ATYM would be a cast-iron lowball takeover target for e.g. Trafigura)

2 The environmental protesters convince the Junta there is a real risk that the tailings dam will burst

However I believe Spain has already started to turn the corner; and China consumes 55% of the world's copper, so

Personally I'm not a buyer of ATYM yet, because I see another sharp leg down in US markets (and all boats rise and fall with the tide)

But...you pays your money, you takes your chance...if you buy ATYM now and it remains independent you will be holding a share worth at least £5 in 5 years time (assuming they don't get taken over), but I believe it will be a roller coaster ride in the near future...

~Having predicted a fall to at least 115 and then revised that to 80, I cannot rule out the 60s, but I still have a core 10,000 and in the medium to long term they will be a sound investment...after all I acquired my original peak holding at a lower average than the current price...

Hope this helps and AIMHO as usual...

Hello rougepierre,

I've been taking a look at these. At an obvious discount to asset value and a low PE - prior to the shutdown, of course.

You clearly know a lot about the stock. I was looking into the licence validation process for the mine in Huelva, and wasn't sure how legally secure their operation was.

Would you care to comment?

Thank you

I agree a shutdown likely. In the scheme of things it's no doubt for the best. Employee health, and health of the community must be a priority. Atalaya are not the only ones and better placed than some to ride it out.

Looks like rio tinto will be shutting down tomorrow for a 14 day spell as part of Spain's efforts to tighten the lockdown. Can't believe copper mining would be classed as an essential business. https://www.euroweeklynews.com/2020/03/28/breaking-news-all-non-essential-workers-to-remain-home-from-monday-announces-spains-pm/It's unclear to me if the Spanish govt will pay part of the employees wages in this lockdown, but I'm hoping they will pay 75% of the basic wage which would help us mitigate our loss. Tough times. Stay safe everyone.

Large volume today which looked to be all buys. Yet minimal price action. Do we have a big seller. or is this about to pop?

Well but not prosperous rouge. Unfortunately I didn't follow your strategy and in particular was about to sell just about everything on the Friday before it all started to fall apart but was particularly busy at work so didn't get around to it.Fairly confident most of my holdings will recover but this was an opportunity to make serious money if you got your timing right.Still, there are much more important things as we are all now realising and isn't it nice to have purer air and almost no traffic noise.

Fair comment Husbod...hope you're keeping well and prosperous...

Everybody else seems to have self isolated from this BB...

Plenty of action in the shares, even if they're not going anywhere...

Cheers mate...

Sorry Rouge but have to disagree. Plenty of AIM stocks seriously up.You don't have to be a genius to realise this is a one mine company atm and doesn't even have a valid license to operate that mine. That plus Covid 19 is why our Sp is down 60% or more and has stayed there.Plus I dont like the Spanish left wing government which is in hoc (not your share rouge) to an even more extreme left wing minority party.Going onto the main market would be a complete waste of money imho.

I think I've got it...

While US markets are suspended because of 'limit up' people are shorting VIX/VILX...

When the S&P restarts we could see turmoil and huge volatility of volatility until things settle down...

The markets are bouncing because Trump has said he could reopen the economy in a week...

When the deaths in the US rocket markets will tank again for one last huge sell-off...

Be out of VILX with your profits by then...

You could of course trade it in the meantime...bought more at 2.60...

In the meantime you can buy 5,000 ATYM at 88.5...that suggests the next move could be down...

AIMHO as usual...

Silver on a tear...

Gold/silver ration topped out at 126.5...now down to 113...

HOC up 50% in just 4 trading hours...

Not too late to get into MAG silver (depending on what happens on the open in Canada...)

ATYM not catching up yet, but 94 paid yesterday and 92.6 today...

BUT if this stock had a full listing it would be flying this morning...

There's just no liquidity...

How long will it take the BOD to get this...we've got worse news got come and every time selling starts the MMs bang it down...

AIMHO as usual...
