Unfortunately they're not looking at Spain...

"BHP is looking at discoveries in Ecuador, Chile, Peru, the southwest of the U.S. and Australia, Malchuk says."

BHP Billiton is scouring the world for copper to meet demand from the expected boom in electric vehicles and the rise of renewable energy.
Daniel Malchuk, president of BHP’s operations in the Americas, said that the world’s largest mining group was investing in expanding its existing copper mines and was seeking new blockbuster deposits in Latin America, North America and Australia.

The International Energy Agency believes that by 2030 there will be 160 million electric vehicles, which contain about four times as much copper as traditional petrol and diesel vehicles. Renewable energy systems need between eight and twelve times as much copper as traditional power generation, according to the Copper Development Association.

However, there are few new copper mines under construction because commodities prices slumped in 2013. Furthermore, the older the mine, the harder it has to be worked because the purity of the ore decreases.

“We want more copper,” Mr Malchuk said. “In addition to all the things we’re doing to try to extract the most out of our existing resources, we also have something we don’t talk about all that much: a very active and focused exploration programme in copper.”

The exploration efforts are leaning on high-tech approaches from the oil and gas industry, including seismic imaging. “We have more than 100 years of data in the different jurisdictions of the world,” he said.
“Today we are bringing machine-learning and complex algorithms to that data, which gives us more insight into which regions and the zones within regions that may have higher fertility, higher prospectivity.”;

Mr Malchuk said that new mines took roughly a decade to develop from discovery to first production, which meant that in the near term BHP would expand production at its existing mines.
In August BHP said that it was spending $2.5 billion expanding the Spence mine in Chile’s Atacama desert, an investment that will extend the life of the mine by 50 years.
Now it is looking to expand production at Olympic Dam, its vast polymetallic deposit in Australia, which contains billions of tonnes of copper, gold, silver and uranium but processes only about 12 million tonnes of ore a year.
“We’re eating that resource with a teaspoon,” he said. Similar work is under way at Escondida in Chile, the world’s largest copper mine.

Just added Kestrel Gold (KGC.TSX) to my other Canadian holdings...KCC (Kincora) and WG (Wellgreen), in the pursuit of copper/gold/silver/lithium/platinum/palladium projects to reinvest ATYM proceeds (as well as SOLG and KDNC for example...)

Still holding ATYM for very long term...£6/7 per share?

AIMHO as usual...

I'm getting a little tired of the 'not 5p/6p old money' stuff. Nothing personal, but it's not the share price but the market cap that's important and the market cap is a great deal higher than it was when the Sp was 6p old money.

SBT..Of course I can always sell up!What a ridiculous statement!
I have been in this share for a very long time.I have a reasonable average,
but when I see remarks like...It is astor....small day traders.....bats..AAU..
tailing dams..price of copper...the list goes on ad infinitum.
MY take on the share price is that Trafigura is holding it back due to investors
being afraid that they(Traf) could have a maj.holding and taking the company private. Why else is the share price so low?It is not even 6p old price!

No m8..something is not right.

Look at the small volumes lanty33, it's just day traders, and if the sellers out number the buyers the share price doesn't move up much..!, as each day/week/month pass the company is getting more valuable, the Q3 financials are only 2/3 weeks away now... As we demonstrate through repeat profits we slowly build our position, and when we have enough positive momentum we will trade on fundamentals with a sensible PE and not the technical trading bias setting the direction.., it's just a matter of time.., and that time is getting closer.., trade payable's flattened by Xmas, working capital position restored to positive, then Astor next in 2018..

Yup, you got it SBT, a $ buys 0.86 EURO's now, up from 0.83 on the last Copper spike, so we are earning more from our Copper.. :o)..

Also the Cu price as expressed in € is just about at a high for the past 12 months. (probably for a lot longer than that but the chart I used did not go back any further)

All looking good, just need to show patience.

One of the links is about the civil works (I suspect the AUU alterations are to do with this). Definitely not to do with expansion (oh no, this is just care and maintenance - Astor) and hence allowable spend.
