India pushing on with Copper mine expansion plans, and an interesting read..!

Vedanta is ramping up its plant capacities as India’s biggest base-metals producer bets on Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s plan to boost spending on the country’s infrastructure and provide power to all households. India’s annual copper consumption is expected to almost triple to 2 million metric tons in the next decade, according to Hindalco Industries Ltd..

The company wants to double capacity at the plant Tuticorin, in the state of Tamil Nadu, to 800,000 tons a year, Albanese said. The firm has set aside optional capital expenditure to allow it to cover the expansion, it said in a presentation..

26.05.2016 for the Q1 financials last year, so I'm expecting the end of next week, if the timing repeats for 2017.., and well timed too with Copper trending north again..!

Have to say thought copper would react more positively to recent global news.

Outside of the UK, the threatened global meltdown looks as likely to continue to prove to be a meltup! US/EU/India/China, even Russia all looking more positive.

Hopefully copper will soon follow on it's journey back to and through $3.00.

Numbers this week or next?

Glencore Plc Chief Executive Officer Ivan Glasenberg said the rise of electric cars will significantly boost demand for minerals including copper and lithium in the coming decades.

“The electric vehicle revolution is happening and its impact is likely to be felt faster than expected,” Glasenberg told investors at an industry conference in Barcelona on Tuesday. Almost all car makers are increasing investment in electric vehicles as governments adopt tighter emissions targets

These facts have a major impact on copper...

hxxps://www.platts.com/latest-news/metals/santiago/chile-copper-output-drops-23-in-march-on-escondida-21591153

And its hit BHP who "cut its guidance for full-year copper output by 17% to a range of 1.33mln to 1.36mln tonnes following a six-week strike at the Escondida mine, the world's biggest copper mine, that ended in late March"

And RIO..."In 2017, Rio Tinto’s expected share of mined copper production has been revised to between 500 and 550 thousand tonnes (previously 525 to 665 thousand tonnes), as a result of industrial action at Escondida and the curtailment of production at Grasberg. Refined copper production guidance remains unchanged at 185 to 225 thousand tonnes."

But also, Chilean silver production in the first quarter was down a stunning 26%...

hxxp://silverseek.com/commentary/breaking-chile-silver-production-down-stunning-26-16590

Now what's significant about this is that silver is often produced as a by-product of copper mining....

Finally, surely the China "One Road One Belt" infrastructure plans, with an already committed $78 billion, must have an effect on sentiment at the very least...

AIMHO as usual...

Surely the current controversy over dirty diesel will accelerate the demand as well...especially from environmentalists who bought diesel because they were conned into believing that it was cleaner...!!!

Meanwhile, steady buying today...and no Mr 5,000 yet....yet....

I see that some genius in the States reckons there will be no fossil fuelled cars being built in 8 years time. I'm sure the research wasn't sponsored by Tesla/Mr Monk.

So it's only another 8 years before all cars will be run on electrics etc so we LTHs now know that it will only be another 8 years before our share price starts to rocket.

Actually, it will be very interesting to see how long it takes for electric vehicles to take the majority market share.

Yes Acamas, a 204p average I can work with short term, longer term adding in Touro and $3.00 Copper and we should be well in the £3/4 area, but 1 step at a time here, and 1st results on the board, a maiden profit reported is another milestone..

Trying to make any sense of the COMEX/LME/Shanghai bonded warehouses is just hopeless, with so many smoke and mirrors at play.. so stick to the logical fundamentals of ever increasing world usage, ever greener, added to big infrastructure programs and decreasing LOM's/grades and lack of investment in new deposits can only mean 1 thing long term for Copper..

Another 3-4 years out from here, and we can see who was right/wrong..!

llb,

Brokers forecasts if you drop the highest and the lowest and take the average of the other four we arrive at a price of 204p. That will do for me as an expected target for now
