Good day disc0

I had no idea you had so many followers or perhaps one with several names. Filtered.

Bad news is very good news until it becomes too bad and then it is bad news as in the 'good old days'.

US 10 YEAR Yield currently down to 4.55%.

I note YU. has broken above the 23.6% Fib. Can it hold and close above?

Treasury yields dropped in response but unfortunately for AHT the pound rose too.

Hi perfido Hope all is well, sorry but I updated my post as thought "I'll sell at a profit" was:1 a bit flippant2 tempting fate3 Not really answering Mr b's questionAnd yes it may end up being a long term hold, lol, but given how illiquid it can be I doubt that's the case.

Nah none of those shenanigans! lol
Kidding, I did look at the RSI and looked like support off SMA50 (or there abouts). Expected the drop given how much it’s gone up but tbh on fundamentals and outlook it is cheap. As I said only a punt / 1st tranche, in profit and see how it goes. Not a long term hold for me as think they will struggle when commodity prices normalise (they are making hay while the sun shines - IMO).
In answer to your question - yes, have £14 pencilled in based on eps and moderate rating. If it struggles to break above previous tops (of the double top) I may just take my profit and leave some for the next man or woman or skirting board or whatever orientation they are :)

When you bought did you consider what would cause you to sell? i.e. price, support, resistance etc.

AHT got an honourable mention together with United Rentals in a US investment management firms quarterly update:

Cooper Investors, an investment management firm, released its “Cooper Investors Global Equities Fund” third quarter 2023 investor letter.

.......Cooper Investors highlighted stocks like United Rentals, Inc. (NYSE:URI) in the third quarter 2023 investor letter. Headquartered in Stamford, Connecticut, United Rentals, Inc. (NYSE:URI) is an equipment rental company. On November 1, 2023, United Rentals, Inc. (NYSE:URI) stock closed at $409.48 per share. One-month return of United Rentals, Inc. (NYSE:URI) was 1.27%, and its shares gained 34.76% of their value over the last 52 weeks. United Rentals, Inc. (NYSE:URI) has a market capitalization of $28.914 billion.

Cooper Investors made the following comment about United Rentals, Inc. (NYSE:URI) in its Q3 2023 investor letter:

"Two recent additions to the portfolio are United Rentals, Inc. (NYSE:URI) and Ashtead Group (AHT). URI and AHT are the two largest equipment rental businesses in North America, serving non-residential construction and general industrial (MRO) markets.

They offer thousands of products ranging from forklifts, scissor lifts and mobile cranes to small loaders, excavators, and air compressors. While fitting into our Cyclical subset, these businesses have an enviable history of generating attractive returns on invested capital and we see significant growth opportunities ahead.

Observable trends in the equipment rental sector are favourable. The industry is relatively young and continues to evolve into an attractive, more consolidated industry structure. URI and AHT are by far the largest two players in their industry and are growing at above market rates. There is a virtuous benefit to scale in this industry, driven by procurement advantages on equipment, better equipment availability and more opportunity to invest in technology that improves service levels…”

Many thanks Mr b, thought it may get you to salivate!Small punt at 1015 when it fell below what I thought was the double top support (1025). Not a long termer, just momentum hopefully. See how it goes.Sorry again all for off topic. All these storms and abnormal weather patterns - good for AHT but not for some folks. Hope everyone is battened down and safe.

I am unfamiliar with YU Group but it does provide an interesting chart (that's my inner nerd surfacing).

I have posted two charts Daily and a frightening Weekly.

Daily

You mentioned Double Top yesterday and this chart provides an excellent example.

The vertical red lines show a high followed by a moderate decline followed by slightly higher high which does not have the strength to continue up. Look at the RSI. At the second high it was indicating enough was enough and the strength was not there.

It has pulled back to the 38.2% fib and the lower trendline.

You will note that today it attempted to move back up but the 23.6% fib resisted and there was insufficient strength to push it through.

What next? It is now in a range between the two fibs I have mentioned. A confirmed break and hold of either fib is required for a reduced risk trade/investment decision.

YU DAILY

YU WEEKLY

A Chunky Drop!!

Uncertain of the impact of their actions - so why do it so aggressively. Inflation would by its very nature unwind IMO.Perhaps a tad unfair but pity they weren't so "honest" prior to crashing the economy. Thanks

Uncertain...On one hand that is at least being honest, on the other it highlights the fact that the experts with all the data at their disposal feel their way by trial and error.

Economics - Science, Art or Informed Guesstimate?

I'll have a look at YU.

Good day Mr bYeah YU group - ThanksSaw this quote from FOMC which did make me giggle - uncertain! (sorry for slight off topic):"Tighter financial and credit conditions for households and businesses are likely to weigh on economic activity, hiring, and inflation. The extent of these effects remains uncertain. The Committee remains highly attentive to inflation risks," the FOMC said in a statement.
