Indeed. That'a why I'm monitoring the situation.

I'm surprised at the response to the idea of break even and to the possibility of a sizeable retrace. It appears that there is a view that it will keep going to £24/£25 without much of a retrace.

Not a certainty but a reasonable probability.

Following such a rise and horizontal price action it would not be unusual for a largish retrace. If such a retrace were to occur it could be advantageous to sell and buy back in when the retrace complete.

This I gotta see!

Good day bracke,

Ok, what I would have said is that exiting at break even shows a degree of timidity unbecoming a semi-professional trader such as yourself, but as we agree we do have different approaches.

Good luck, but for my part I am pretty certain I will still be a holder 12 months hence, unless the company's fundamentals change for the worse, or I fall off my perch! :-)

It appears my mention of "break even" has caused some concern among the natives.

I did give my reasoning for a break even consideration but that appears to have been ignored or perhaps blinded by the apparition of £24/£25.

I will continue to monitor events. I note a rise this morning and no gap.

Hi DD

Happy to help.

I have held the main fund, Fundsmith Equity Acc units for over four years, annual return 18% p.a. to date, after AMC 1%. I imagine this is the fund that you are looking at.

Fundsmith's website is very informative, and the AGM is made available on youtube - worth a watch. Terry is a 5 star rated manager on ADVFN (Edit: should be FE Trustnet) where further performance information is available.

No advice intended, but do let me know if I can help further with your research.

Good evening DD

Unfortunately 'sell at break even' ignores the opportunity costs of the investment, so it might be a difficult sell to Moma Bracke. Nevertheless it could have been worse..

With regard to fund managers, if you accept that personal wealth creation has three stages, accumulation, maintenance and distribution, Mutual Funds have an important part to play in a balanced portfolio, particularly in the latter stages, where avoiding losses becomes increasingly more important.

If you look at the track records of say Fundsmith or Lindsell Train, they have been able to provide annualised returns of 20% per annum, over the last 5 years. I bet you not many private investors achieve that, but instead live in hope of landing 'the big one'. Many do not..

However I recognise that there is room for investors of all sorts of persuasion to make a market, and I do wish all my fellow investors good luck! It's just that unexciting wealth creation is my own preferred approach

(No advice intended)

My thoughts now turn to AHT and whether to sell at breakeven.

As you pointed out earlier today it's had an excellent run up from the December low. How much more can it give on this leg before a sizeable retrace.

A watching brief.
