06/2/2019 16:42 | At least discussion on the share buy back has disappeared till someone mentions it again. | uppompeii
06/2/2019 15:48 | Sorry bracke, couldn't resist :-) | ohojim
06/2/2019 15:46 | Indeed. That'a why I'm monitoring the situation. I'm surprised at the response to the idea of break even and to the possibility of a sizeable retrace. It appears that there is a view that it will keep going to £24/£25 without much of a retrace. | bracke
06/2/2019 15:43 | bracke 31 Jan '19 - 18:43 - 90421 of 90473 "I enter and exit too soon." ==================== Premature entry and exit a common 'complaint'. | ohojim
06/2/2019 15:33 | "it would not be unusual" ==================== Not a certainty but a reasonable probability. | bracke
06/2/2019 15:19 | Following such a rise and horizontal price action it would not be unusual for a largish retrace. If such a retrace were to occur it could be advantageous to sell and buy back in when the retrace complete. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ This I gotta see! | ianwwwhite
06/2/2019 13:26 | Good day bracke, Ok, what I would have said is that exiting at break even shows a degree of timidity unbecoming a semi-professional trader such as yourself, but as we agree we do have different approaches. Good luck, but for my part I am pretty certain I will still be a holder 12 months hence, unless the company's fundamentals change for the worse, or I fall off my perch! :-) | ianwwwhite
06/2/2019 10:36 | It appears my mention of "break even" has caused some concern among the natives. I did give my reasoning for a break even consideration but that appears to have been ignored or perhaps blinded by the apparition of £24/£25. I will continue to monitor events. I note a rise this morning and no gap. | bracke
06/2/2019 10:27 | 'sell at breakeven?'.... Edit: I wouldn't dream of commenting :-) ==================== Yes you would!! | bracke
06/2/2019 08:48 | No probs, did wonder!Have a good one. | discodave4
06/2/2019 08:30 | DD Whoops - for ADVFN in post 56435 please read FE Trustnet ... It seems after midnight my brain turns into a pumpkin! | ianwwwhite
06/2/2019 08:15 | Thanks Ian,Yes started to watch the AGM video, TS very impressive. Will research a bit more.All the best.DD | discodave4
06/2/2019 00:04 | Hi DD Happy to help. I have held the main fund, Fundsmith Equity Acc units for over four years, annual return 18% p.a. to date, after AMC 1%. I imagine this is the fund that you are looking at. Fundsmith's website is very informative, and the AGM is made available on youtube - worth a watch. Terry is a 5 star rated manager on ADVFN (Edit: should be FE Trustnet) where further performance information is available. No advice intended, but do let me know if I can help further with your research. IWW | ianwwwhite
05/2/2019 22:08 | Thanks Ian and Fenners.Have a couple of pension funds too.Have been looking at fundsmith, Ian are you invested?, no worries if being too nosey!.DD | discodave4
05/2/2019 21:28 | Good evening DD Unfortunately 'sell at break even' ignores the opportunity costs of the investment, so it might be a difficult sell to Moma Bracke. Nevertheless it could have been worse.. With regard to fund managers, if you accept that personal wealth creation has three stages, accumulation, maintenance and distribution, Mutual Funds have an important part to play in a balanced portfolio, particularly in the latter stages, where avoiding losses becomes increasingly more important. If you look at the track records of say Fundsmith or Lindsell Train, they have been able to provide annualised returns of 20% per annum, over the last 5 years. I bet you not many private investors achieve that, but instead live in hope of landing 'the big one'. Many do not.. However I recognise that there is room for investors of all sorts of persuasion to make a market, and I do wish all my fellow investors good luck! It's just that unexciting wealth creation is my own preferred approach (No advice intended) | ianwwwhite
05/2/2019 21:04 | "bracke - No offence Dad, much respect." LOL | fenners66
05/2/2019 20:11 | Good evening Ian,Did I miss read "sell at breakeven", must be the thought of buying me a pint has sent him over the edge!.Why give fund managers a fee when you can simply check their portfolios and do likewise, besides where's the fun!........but avoid Woodford, think he went to the same investing school as bracke!.bracke - No offence Dad, much respect.p.s £24 by June double or quits! | discodave4
05/2/2019 18:54 | uppompeii Was it the fact that he made a profit that he found disconcerting? lol! | ianwwwhite
05/2/2019 18:42 | bracke has been befuddled by BP | uppompeii
05/2/2019 18:33 | 'sell at breakeven?'.... Edit: I wouldn't dream of commenting :-) | ianwwwhite
05/2/2019 18:11 | My thoughts now turn to AHT and whether to sell at breakeven. As you pointed out earlier today it's had an excellent run up from the December low. How much more can it give on this leg before a sizeable retrace. A watching brief. | bracke
05/2/2019 18:05 | Well done bracke, glad to hear things are going well! | ianwwwhite
05/2/2019 18:00 | ian Mater will be very happy with me. I sold her BP shares today for a good profit. Sold mine too. | bracke
05/2/2019 17:57 | I'm thinking you better take a bottle of 'Bolly' round to mater while it lasts! A day like today deserves a celebration! :-) | ianwwwhite |
