07/3/2019 18:07 | Good day ian "The Wall Street Journal on Sunday reported that Trump and Chinese leader President Xi Jinping are working on a summit that would take place in Mar-a-Lago, Trump’s club in Florida, at the end of this month that might constitute a final stage of trade discussions." ==================== Mr Trump needs a good result, if it isn't he will say it is! The Presidential Election is 3 Nov 2020. That's 20 months away, a long time to keep the stock market buoyant. Perhaps he will have to accept a retrace and then 'pump it' nearer the election date. It might be better to let the economy ease off for a while to avoid the FED increasing interest rates. If he is successful at the election what will he do given he will not face another election and has nothing to loose. | bracke
07/3/2019 17:50 | Good afternoon bracke, Thanks for your views. It would seem DD's 'Tango Man' needs to pull something out of a hat, if he is relying on a buoyant stock market to secure his re-election... It appears so far that his North Korea 'deal' has floundered, the China Tariff skirmish is far from settled, and 'The Wall' project looks like it is unlikely to get finished. And now the U.S. trade deficit has unsettled the markets. Looking forward to Big T's next proud boasts of his achievements in office! Make America what? | ianwwwhite

06/3/2019 11:12 | Seems to be a lot of red generally on my screen, AHT seems to be manfully trying to swim against the tide. Looking at the bigger picture, we seem to have been in an uptrend recently, higher highs and higher lows if I'm not mistaken. If only we knew someone who could tell us what it all means from a 'technical analysis' viewpoint... :-) | ianwwwhite
05/3/2019 15:41 | Winnie refuses to comment about fake news. | bracke
05/3/2019 15:40 | bracke lol! Winnie? Is he the other one that doesn't like the 'you know what'? | ianwwwhite
05/3/2019 15:36 | ian "... have you been talking to Eeyore? :-)" ==================== Winnie wasn't very happy either! I will continue to monitor the share price | bracke
05/3/2019 15:28 | Hi bracke, ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Construction spending in December was lower than expected and AHT has a chunky amount of debt. Add in thoughts of a slowing US economy and the cyclical nature of AHT's market and you can understand why the lacklustre response to the results. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ .... have you been talking to Eeyore? :-) We've seen this happen before, a fall on results day and subsequent recovery over the following days, so I'm still in for the long haul, until the story changes. The AHT management seem pretty confident in their outlook in today's webcast. Given that URI fell yesterday together with the DOW on trade deal worries, and that the AHT price was marked down from the off, I am not at all sure that today's price action was based on the AHT results as you suggest. In any event, good luck with Mater's sale, I'm sure she will sleep easier once the money is back in her piggy bank! | ianwwwhite
05/3/2019 14:50 | Good day ian I am not keen on holding AHT as long term at this time. I agree the results were good but the market looks ahead and is wary. Construction spending in December was lower than expected and AHT has a chunky amount of debt. Add in thoughts of a slowing US economy and the cyclical nature of AHT's market and you can understand why the lack lustre response to the results. It's always difficult to gauge a market turn but I would prefer to err on the safe side. Perhaps an agreement between US and China concerning tariffs, or at least a tweet by Mr Trump saying there is may take the share price up to a Mater exit level. | bracke
05/3/2019 14:10 | Good afternoon bracke, Looks like Maters short term punt is turning into a long term hold? :-) Keep the faith, time is on her side, and the final dividend payable in Sept, (ex div Aug) will probably be an increase over last year (27.5p), under AHT's progressive and sustainable dividend policy.. | ianwwwhite
05/3/2019 14:09 | Good afternoon 2flatpack Welcome back, we were beginning to worry about you :-) Personally I think the AHT results as usual were outstanding, and this morning's retrace had more to do with the fall in the Dow yesterday, and in particular followed URI down from the off. URI had fallen 2.36% to 132.49 at the close last night. I think things may begin to look a bit brighter over the next few days (IMHO). . | ianwwwhite
05/3/2019 13:45 | Afternoon all With the US markets flat it will be interesting to see how URI react, they often do better from our results than we do. Good results . Thanks Jeff. and the team. I guess the Final will be Jeff's swan song, which will be loud and sweet. CHeers | 2flatpack
05/3/2019 11:49 | No spike to the upside, No return to the sunny uplands. Mater will be disappointed! Looking on the bright side........ the lower gaps have been filled. | bracke
05/3/2019 08:35 | Great results, debt always high in capital intensive businesses. Growth is very good. If this dips over the next couple of trading sessions I'll be loading up. | hatfullofsky
