Good morning DD,

I don't think it was all about the wall, despite what they say, there are wider considerations, not least the eroding/chipping away of Trump's support base by the Democrats, and effectively a power struggle between the Demo and Rep parties.

Next years election preliminaries have already started ... more to come?

Good morning bracke.The US shutdown allegedly cost $6bn, the Tango man wants $5.7bn funding for his wall........go figure!, lol.

Good day Disco

Whether he gets the $ or not he will declare it a victory!

It's ironic that as the chances of a Brexit deal appear to be increasing the £/$ rises, which lowers the FTSE. From an AHT perspective it depends which of the event outcomes it deems are the most important....even if it isn't!

Hi DD,

From a brokers market roundup yesterday:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
'Equipment rental firm Ashtead gained following well-received earnings from US peer United Rentals overnight'
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Give it time?

Evening bracke, I see that after a scramble, we finished at 1870 - well done e_guru!

In the meantime, URI is down a further 2.7% at 115 as I type, it will be interesting to see what impact tonight's URI results have tomorrow.

It seems like we are swimming against the tide at present..

In the meantime I notice that the pound has strengthened significantly, currently US$1.3066, Euro 1.1469 - have the odds shortened on a brexit deal?

Hi bracke,

Yes I noticed the omission as well, not sure what criteria they are using.

I suspect the DOW will continue to bear down on URI (currently down 4% @ 118.44) and AHT will follow suit irrespective of the results. (IMHO).

Nevertheless, we have made substantial progress since the lows of December, so if we can continue to hold above 1900 for the time being,I would be quite happy. Next AHT results (Q3) are due early March.

Good day ian

In the final paragraph of the second link URI competitors were named, Sunbelt not included?

In the meantime the DOW is having a down day. If the fall remains it will be interesting to see which has the greater affect on AHT; fallen DOW or URI results.
