Buy Ashtead. The plant hire company saw its shares fall significantly during yesterday’s session, leaving the stock some 26 per cent down from December’s highs. The column says such a decline can’t be justified unless you take a very pessimistic view of the US economy – the market seems to be reacting to a cutting back of planned capital spend, but this has come at the end of a hefty fleet replacement programme, so there should be no surprise in this. With reduced spend paving the way for a dividend hike and the stock trading on a 10 times multiple, there’s plenty to like here.

Many thanks for this steer.

In the mean time URI are currently 3.5% up, so if they can keep this until the close, it augurs well for next week. I guess the market liked the US payroll figures.

From CRH ( big in USA aggregates and cement)annual results mentioned earlier

Outlook:"We expect the US economy to continue to grow in 2016 at a pace similar to recent trends. Funding for infrastructure is expected to increase moderately with improving State finances and the passing in 2015 of a new federal programme (FAST) which secures highway funding until 2020. We expect continued growth in US housing construction and that non-residential construction will also show gains."

Thanks for posting the Transcript of the conference call .
Just reread it.
Among st the questions about 1% here or 2% there was, Justin Jorden and Andy Murpy asking what would Ashtead do with the £300 to £400 m. Free cash flow that they would have by April 2017.

I see that as the main point all this shorting ect. is just short term noise.
.
I noticed URI have risen almost 10% from Tuesdays open ,maybe that's the play for ashteads results, URI long .
