The share price made short work of the resistance zone at 5144.

New gap at 5286. Not forgetting the two to the upside at 5736 and 5830. There are two more at 6200 and 6328 but avoid over exciting yourselves at the thought of them being filled.

Hi disc0,

You may be right, but I believe we may have different investment horizons.

My recollection is that often following good results the 'fly-by-night' traders take profits and move on, but we long term holders can anticipate the price to recover and make further progress in due course, barring broad market upsets.

AHT Investment horizons? Mine started in July 1997, and I have held various amounts since then, taking some profits to manage risk when appropriate, buying more when the price falls.

To each his own, I wish all our posters good fortune, and obviously NAI!

Hi PerfidoWhilst any uplift in share price is welcomed, IMO the chances of a pullback on results only increases plus it has a habit of falling on results day anyway......hopefully I'm wrong :)

Thanks, for some reason I had pencilled in the 14th, so let's hope the 13th is a lucky day!

Somebody who invested just £1,000 in Ashtead back in June 2003 would have £456,330 today with dividends reinvested, according to online investment platform AJ Bell.

The share price is being held at the resistance zone. It requires a 'slug' of volume to push it through.

For the record on 31st May the UT was down as a buy at 16:40 and 3.1m @ £49.From the daily volume I'm assuming the UT is included as part of the daily volume? (seems odd to me that book balancing is regarded as real trade volume but wtfdik - every day is a day for learning!).

Curious, What day was the UT £153m?Never take much notice of MM's balancing their books as not real trades, so I understand, so the UT is fairly meaningless and doesn't follow that some II is buying large scale.

dd. our alert picked up that the closing auction took 10 mins instead of 5 and the size of the uncrossing trade was £153m and the closing price was 1.8% above the last traded price before the auction, this was a powerful signal that there's accumulation in size going on. as far as I'm aware that's the largest volume day in the last 12 months by quite a considerable margin - other large vol days 16/12/22 & 03/01/23

"accumulation in size"Can you expand on that. Apart from the 31st May (vol 4.8m) volumes have been at or below its 3 month average (1.1m).

disc0dave45 haven't been digging into the fundamentals to any kind of granular degree, mostly been monitoring the technicals in the past few weeks, definitely seeing strong signs of accumulation in size, may see a notification to confirm this in the coming days/weeks.

This kind of behaviour makes me feel fairly confident that the results will be pretty decent 🤞

fenners66 like your work! probably AI bots trying to pump up the price of a rentals behemouth that's 86% owned by major institutions 😉. long or short on aht? as cynical about the growth here and adding value as you are on new posters sharing information?

I'd seriously doubt that the sum total of all the investors who look to these boards for any kind of positive/negative inference make up less than 1% of the total share cap, wouldn't you agree? happy to be proved wrong if you don't

Sum total of all their posts to date ?

Count them above ..... 3

thanks servicewash for the update. Reckon aht is on the cusp of blowing the doors off with the next wave of news & positive sentiment from the US business.
Not a lot of focus on the rest of their business. If they're doing half decently there also, all bets will be off 🚀🚀

The stellar rise in construction spending figs out of the US on Thurs was likely one of the major drivers of the uptick at the end of the week assisted by positive market sentiment.
All the clues are pointing to Sunbelt's next set of figures as being pretty damn impressive. The spike in volume moving the price sharply upwards in Thursday's closing auction signalled large buys likely from some big hitters ahead of the next news cycle imo.
