URI and CAT are flying......wasn't construction the sector that employed more in May?.Wouldn't think it's a delayed reaction to the debt ceiling as Biden has said it won't mean any new spending but just paying off existing debt.

Target achieved gap at 5104 filled.

It has closed at a strong resistance zone.

Fair point about your island!.Yeah NFP 339k but unemployment at 7 month high of 3.7%.....ying and yang!Looks like unemployment trumps NFP for the moment anyway. Reckon Mr Powell will flick a coin now lol.

Good day disc0

Private islands in the Caribbean viewed with suspicion as a result or Epstein.

NFP comes in way over expectation but the Futures are unperturbed....so far.

US Payrolls +339,000
Revision to previous +93,000

But unemployment up from 3.4 to 3.7% and wages rising less than expected.

More relevance to AHT perhaps 25,000 construction jobs added.

Good afternoon Mr b, thought you'd retired to your private island in the Caribbean!.Yeah debt ceiling being sorted was a given IMO but as ever the market allowed for fear and those pesky traders to profit.Forecast for NFP is 190k, we'll know in a few minutes. From what I've read there was a 75% chance of a rate rise this month a few weeks back, but in the last few days it's flipped to a 75% chance of a freeze. You couldn't make it up!.

The gap at 4919 filled but another opened today at 4949. Target is the gap at 5104.

The debt ceiling agreement has given the market a boost, eyes now turn to NFP. If the data is favourable it will give impetus to the hope of a pause in interest rise at the next FED meeting.

It was because of Hatto that I bought these back in those days, when I had just begun dabbling with stocks. Alas, I took profits far too early and now hold a fraction of what I had back then. Story of my life.On a brighter note perhaps, the US have raised their debt ceiling. However, pretty much expected I think, so maybe already accounted for. Still stormy waters ahead for the financial world I fear.

Even if Biden and McCarthy reach an agreement on the debt ceiling there is no certainty that either house will agree it.

Good day disc0

It appears the optimistic talk about debt ceiling agreement was premature. I would use different terminology but there may be sensitive people reading this. The market took umbrage and dropped later on Friday.

Supposedly there are two weeks remaining to sort it out before (how should I put this) the unpleasant matter hits the fan. The concern is that as the clock counts down 'jitters' will increase with commensurate actions.

Of course it may all be settled early next week and we will all say 'I knew it would'.

Powell opened his gob again. Why is there no regulatory controls / body to ensure due diligence is carried out on the decisions being made by this guy?......and what he says!. IMO he's raised rates too high too quick, but wtfdik.

Should clarify - the comment was made in the context of the stock market in general, not a particular stock, think there was a typo.

Snippet from market news on the HL website:"Tickmill Group market analyst James Harte said: "Optimism over a potential US debt-ceiling deal is creating a positive backdrop for the stock which should move firmly higher if a deal is confirmed."

Thanks Mr bNot yet another gap to fill..........oh well, onwards and upwards (I hope). Not too certain there will be a pullback but wouldnt completely disagree with a guru :)Ps OT - yes AML massive debt and will need more cash, but clearly the Chinese won't say no to a takeaway...I meant takeover lol. There was decent upward momentum and can see why now. In the end put some begging money into a GAM fund specialising in luxury brands (has Ferrari in top 10), see how it goes as money will always spend money no matter what the peasants are doing.

Another good day so far.

The gap at 5000 filled. Next target is the gap at 5104.

The markets have had a good rise on the back of the likely Debt Ceiling agreement.
I suspect there will be a retrace/pullback once an agreement is confirmed. The question is how large will it be.

Mr Stroll selling off some of his shares.

Reading the situation strongly suggests that one way or another AML will have to raise a 'chunk' of money in the not too distant future which is likely to benefit the few but not the many.

I will continue to watch with interest.
