01/8/2019 22:59 | Stocks fell sharply on Thursday, erasing a big surge from earlier in the day, after President Donald Trump said the U.S. would impose an additional 10% tariff on Chinese imports to the U.S. The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed 280.85 points lower at 26,583.42 after rallying as much as 311 points earlier in the day. The S&P 500 ended the session down 0.9% at 2,953.56 after rallying more than 1%. The Nasdaq Composite closed down 0.8% at 8,111.12 after jumping more than 1.6%. | ianwwwhite

01/8/2019 22:15 | What spooked the US ? | fenners66
01/8/2019 09:16 | We seem to be stuck in a range. Despite the fall in the £ giving us an earnings lift. | fenners66
31/7/2019 16:27 | Ditto here. Any info appreciated. Thanks. | palwing32
31/7/2019 16:22 | dcarn, I note that a correction to yesterdays RNS has now been issued, showing the right figures for yesterday's buyback transactions, which are as we thought. :-) | ianwwwhite
31/7/2019 12:47 | This post is totally off topic. If you read the PET thread you will know why I am not posting there. Good day fenners Yesterdays event at PET was interesting. Bearing in mind the purchasers of the shares what do you make of their involvement? If you do not want to comment I understand or you could send me a message. | bracke
31/7/2019 11:30 | dcarn, I am pretty sure you're right.. | ianwwwhite
31/7/2019 11:18 | I suspect the outstanding figure may be the error as if its correct it means they purchased 203137 yesterday and they have never purchased more that 160000 in a single day before. May get some clarification in todays RNS. | dcarn
30/7/2019 18:55 | Looks to me like there is an error in the RNS for today's buyback. Either the number of shares repurchased figure of 53,137 or the resultant shares outstanding figure 463,089,821 (29/7 463,292,958) and shares in Treasury 36,135,891 (29/7 35,932,754) appears to be wrong by 150,000? . | ianwwwhite
30/7/2019 07:33 | Here, Here. | lairddavid
29/7/2019 18:34 | Thanks bracke, as always good to have your views. Hope it's not long before DD joins in again, wouldn't want to miss his contributions too long .... | ianwwwhite
29/7/2019 17:47 | The £/$ helped to-day with a close just above 2300. Slightly surprised it didn't close higher. Now looking for a rise to the last closing high at 2338. A FED rate drop may raise the $ sufficiently to assist the cause. | bracke
29/7/2019 11:06 | Good day Disco If you stop posting your stalkers will consider it a victory. Why don't you simply ignore them and filter their posts. I never bother with the thumbs up/down. Don't let stupid posters deter you. Unfortunately such people can be found throughout this and similar sites. The introduction of social media sites has brought to the surface some unpleasant aspects of human behaviour which were previously largely hidden. | bracke
28/7/2019 10:29 | optomistic Thanks, but no thanks. My interest is confined purely to what is posted on this AHT board, and in that respect I stand by my earlier post. . | ianwwwhite
28/7/2019 09:10 | ianwwwhite if you miss DD4's posts so much go to the CNA BB where you will find many of his 'quality' posts, especially over the last few hours! | optomistic
27/7/2019 23:27 | Fenners, Well said! I agree entirely, DD's contribution to this board is valued, it would be a great shame if he allowed others to curtail his posts by their infantile behaviour. DD I hope you will continue to stick around and post regardless of others who contribute nothing other than a meaningless tick in a box :-) | ianwwwhite
27/7/2019 23:11 | Disco heard your point and would be sorry to lose your input. What I would say though is I never notice the ticks up or down and I don't give a toss about any ticks I get or about anyone else's. Its the quality of the post that matters not my opinion (whether I agree or indeed whether anybody else) agrees with it or not. | fenners66
26/7/2019 09:53 | Thanks.Have just phoned HL and they said 15%, so have completed the W-8BEN. | discodave4
26/7/2019 09:42 | It should be 15% but some brokers still apply 30% even upon completion of the W-8BEN. I closed a iDealing account for this very reason. I've even heard of brokers applying 15% one year and then 30% the following year on the exact same holding, appears to be very broker specific. Saying that i have never had any issues with Selftrade or H&L. | dcarn
26/7/2019 02:07 | Thanks Bukko, will do the form. | discodave4
26/7/2019 00:33 | The withholding tax is 30% for US stock div.s with a refund rate of 15% if you submit a W-8BEN claim form through your (approved) broker. The form has a life of 3 years and can be renewed. All as I recall from a couple of years ago. Hope that helps. | bukko
25/7/2019 23:13 | Question: anybody hold any US stock and what's the withholding tax on dividends (even if in an ISA)?. Been told it's 15%. | discodave4
25/7/2019 16:57 | Thanks SMCN. | discodave4 |
