17/8/2015 10:34 | Good day Gordo Perhaps...........Th Just my thought. | bracke
17/8/2015 07:33 | Hey - sorry to waste every-ones time, I meant why do you think they are selling now, I know URI (sector leader) have problems but I thought this was do do with shifting heavy duty water pumps used by the fracking brigade, hopefully Ashtead didn't get sucked into this market, the construction market in the US seems to be growing year on year, things look good to me for a plant hire company. I will admit however my investing skills have not been at their best in recent years so maybe I missed the boat on this one a caught the downswing as usual. Maybe run up to results will see things improve. | gordo58
14/8/2015 21:11 | Disco One can only suppose but it is not certain that those who had < 3% have sold out. | bracke
14/8/2015 20:23 | Thanks Bracke. Those < 3% (minimum in total equates to 11% that we know about) could be selling some and guess we will never know.DD | discodave4
14/8/2015 20:03 | Disco Societe Generale at 04-09-14 were 2.37% Aegon became Kames Capital as at 09-09-13 were 2.92% | bracke
14/8/2015 19:27 | Going back through the holdings RNS's :-Blackrock had 13% June 2013, gradually reduced down to 5% Oct/Nov 2014 - So no recent sells unless not hit the 1% change/threshold.Abr | discodave4
14/8/2015 13:20 | Gordo "why do you think they would have sold out ?" ==================== 1 The companies I listed had reduced from considerably larger shareholdings. Why would they keep a few %. 2 The fall in the share price is caused by supply exceeding demand. Such a fall would not have been caused by retail investors but by major shareholders. I may be wrong but I think my supposition is a reasonable one. | bracke
14/8/2015 12:52 | This is the list of shareholders ashtead think have 3pc or more 3pc or less I am sure the names you list are right, but why do you think they would have sold out ? | gordo58
14/8/2015 12:05 | Good day optomistic You are correct. My apologies. It appears new rules were introduced. I have looked through my records those with 3% or less were: Legal & General. Societe Generale. Kames Capital. | bracke
14/8/2015 11:44 | Good morning Bracke, is the level for 'discloser not required' 3%? | optomistic
14/8/2015 11:05 | The share price is clinging onto the lower line of the ascending triangle but only just. It will do well to avoid a retest of 920. It is worth noting that no shareholder has more than 5% of the shares. I suspect that those who had dropped below 5% and are not required to inform if they sell below that level have sold more or maybe all of their remaining shares. | bracke
13/8/2015 22:37 | (ShareCast News) - Ashtead shares were dragged lower as Bank of America Merrill Lynch winched down its target price for the equipment rental company to 820p from 1,000p and reiterated its 'underperform' rating.Ahead of the FTSE 250 company's first quarter results on 2 September, Merrill expressed concern about rate pressure from economic data and negative read-across from peers.Data from industry information specialist Rouse reported another move down in its orderly liquidation valuation (OLV) 'appraisal' data, implying negative pressure on yield growth, coming after negative comments from a number of peers in the US.On the peer group comments, Merrill pointed out that recent weeks have seen results and comments from a number of peers in the US that point to weakening trends and lower full year guidance."In particular, United Rentals spoke at a conference on Tuesday and spent most of the meeting discussing weaker market trends and what action it might take to offset headwinds if pressure, particularly from weak oil and gas markets, continued. This included 'repurposing' additional circa $60-70m of oil and gas equipment."DD | discodave4
13/8/2015 21:31 | The bank noted that in recent weeks, results and comments from a number of US peers have pointed to weakening trends and lower full-year guidance???? This innuendo and gossip is that what Merrill Lynch consider well researched analysis. I agree with Clarky they should be paid in URI shares . The results are the only thing that will change this depressing trend. I live in hope that I and my cash will last until September. Cheers | 2flatpack
13/8/2015 18:06 | Easy clarky. They never give a timeframe so as long as their target occurs within a reasonable time period they can claim to be correct. | bracke
13/8/2015 17:45 | Merril really have got the knives out for us. Some 500 points lower than other price targets. How can these people, be it the 1300 pundits or Merril justify their wages.. | clarky5150
13/8/2015 17:30 | Taken from Sharecast. Shares in equipment rental firm Ashtead were under pressure after Bank of America Merrill Lynch slashed its price target on the stock to 820p from 1,000p. The bank noted that in recent weeks, results and comments from a number of US peers have pointed to weakening trends and lower full-year guidance. | deadcatbounce
13/8/2015 13:27 | The share price has dropped to the lower line I mentioned in my post above. IF it is going to continue down 930-920 appears likely but beware of false breaks. | bracke
13/8/2015 13:16 | Div 12.25p, down 26p.......?DD | discodave4
13/8/2015 12:20 | As if many are here for the divi...it is not exactly spectacular! But it won't hurt either as we await the break up towards £10.50 by results early Sept. That's my bet placed, as it was two weeks ago, and nothing has occurred to make me change my mind. If anything the Chinese devaluations have made a U.S. Rate rise less likely, good for AHT. However, most indications in these weird times seem to be very hard to read and anticipate, so prepared for a longer wait for this to regain recent calendar highs if necessary. Topicel | topicel
13/8/2015 10:47 | Stock has gone XD today. As from today, the share trades without its divi - hence the share price is adjusted accordingly. Record date is just the date the company looks to check who its shareholders are. You must be seen to be a holder of record to ensure you get the divi. | broadwood
13/8/2015 10:41 | The share price remains in the ascending triangle (rising lower line, horizontal top line). One of the lines has to give. Place your bets. | bracke
13/8/2015 10:07 | Will probably drop even more tomorrow then!!!!!! | outfly
13/8/2015 10:04 | The price today is definitely ex dividend per LSE website. | james97
13/8/2015 09:53 | Is ex -div not 15th?Dividend is paid to shareholders on the register on 14th. | mjcferguson |
