There is a low at that level from October last year. Without getting too technical I also have a lower parallel at that level.

I don't know where it will cease dropping but I suspect the next chance for support is at 870. I won't give next support as I don't want to upset the 'natives'.

When the shorts are covered there should be a rise.

I suspect that 920 will not hold.

If ashtead are still concentrating on construction industry rentals maybe the recent Home Depot (diy and building material supply chain) results are also a good sign. ;)

I would think the price rise is due to other participants in the market who saw a bargain.
As I see it 1.17% is about 5.9M shares if you short them on a down/quiet day/days you get a fall .
I think the average volume is between 2 & 3 M so that amount of negativity in the market in the short term is going to be felt.
It seems to me we are having another attack today.

Clarky on mee hols in Portugal at the moment but just got word that the PET Rottweiler Fiona Stewart AKA Mclellan was killed in a car crash on Tuesday aged 72 hadn't realised she was that old

The share price rose from 920 to 985 but there appears to have been no reduction in the amounts being shorted. Why the rise?

Agreed but the on the 27 July it jumped from O% to 1.17% (not so small) and S/p that day hit a low 920.
As I say there has been no great volume of selling.
The results should say one way or another.

Point72. 05.08.15 down to 0.45% ( below 0.5% are not tracked)

This may account for the share price drop, as volumes are not high and no sales have been notified.

Its the only reason I can find for the drop.
