Bracke,Your right, I would do the same. Strange though, if I was not as much in profit (for the very first time) my decision may have been different - more than likely I would have found it easier to have sat it out and waited. Profit or loss situation you do react differently at the time to the same scenario, no straightforward answer is there.....sell, buy or hold?.Just normal to kick yourself and say "should have topped up rather than top sliced"....The Old Sage, Mr Buffett, know doubt would have done the former.GLDD

No point in hindsight trading. You took a decision based on the information before you.

If you were presented with the same situation again would you do the same again, if not why not?

If you would not do the same again your decision has to be based on something other than 'the last time I sold it went up'.

I was hoping you wouldn't let the 'cat out of the bag' and spare my embarrassment.

You know how modest I am.

Ref Post 49445

That's an odd one.

Thinking about it, you didn't enter the competition because it then wouldn't have been a competition, because being an elite Guru the die was 100% caste in your favour. Very magnanimous.

The share price has done well this week. It has closed above the top line of the descending channel.

Now a target at a time. First is close above 873 then 900.

uppompeii takes a fence very easily. Your triumphant tone has obviously irked him. He wants some oh his £55 billion back.

You need to be more circumspect in future.

Plus he still thinks he was cheated out of the Mars Bar.

Having remained above 840 despite the test I think that bodes well. We shall see.

The share price held above 840 but was resisted at the downtrend line and the Hourly SMA200.

RNS: Ashtead Group plc announces that its fourth quarter and year end results for
the period ended 30 April 2014 will be announced on Tuesday 17 June 2014

Now I for one would be happy to see a gentle, steady rise towards results day and no more histrionics in the interim - what chance?

And very easily too. It suggests little or no resistance from the bears.

The next test is to break above the trendline I mentioned in post 49428.
