Gold, Golden Prospect Precious Metals, Centamin, Ariana Resources & more from Nigel Somerville...

I am still keeping an eye on fully-listed Centamin (CEY) as its shares are still hanging around the £2 mark and a small slippage below that point would see me reach for the buying boots. In the meantime I can look forward to the 6 US cent dividend next month, which works out at around 4.5p per share…..yum-yum. My other formal tip, AIM-listed Ariana Resources (AAU) has also been wobbling – having slipped below 5p briefly (sadly I missed my chance) they are now up at 5.55p. My intention is to offload a few more above 6p, and with Q1 numbers due any day as well as further news on the corporate deal with Ozaltin involving $30 million and a special dividend there is plenty to look forward to. Any wobble below 5p should certainly be bought in my view, but as my own holding will again be far too big at 6p I will be offloading around 10% at that point. Ariana is a great company, but hard experience has taught me that you certainly can have too much of a good thing on the AIM Casino.

I'm hoping for sight of the deal ASAP. I've no idea when that will be but there will be a period of reflection for shareholders to contemplate as previously stated. So deal certainly won't be signed before end August imho. As I say I want time to go through the deal before giving my ok.

They ain't staff they a the key decision makers . At some point you have to have a break. Ariana has very low overheads due to having small number of key decision makers so got to take rough with the smooth.

bb, would i be correct in assuming jv now wont be finalised in aug because aau need shareholder vote and there is not enough time for that prior to end aug, so we are looking at sep earliest for completion?

Depends how quickly KS and MDV get stuck into the nitty gritty after their annual hols. I'm pretty relaxed about it as long as it progresses.

Looks like a few preparing for another delay...I can't see it, the only reason I could see now would be goverment sign off but Ozaltin should have the clout to get that done you'd hope?

I suspect the MMs are having a severe stock shortage. Watch out for a price uplift later.

the great thing about the jv is that it instantly diversifies the company - it becomes turkish assets plus cash mound (which will then be used in Cyprus and elsewhere)

CandC, I do hope you are right. Erdogan knows NATO needs him and the Turkish airbases, so he can play brinksmanship games and try his luck. The questionbis what effect do you think it is having on our share price (if any)?

you got a good price for your 471 Kev! What's everyone think - is jv news next week going to go to the wire. Mon and Tues seem to be the busiest days for news - so fingers crossed

what's the best we can hope for next week - is it - definitive contract agreed, more detail, Ministry approval and a date for the shareholder approval?

Erdogan is many things but an idiot he is not with the foreign ministers of a group, dubbed the Med7 and comprised of Greece, Cyprus, France, Italy, Malta, Portugal, and Spain, issuing a joint declaration on June 5 calling on all countries of the region to respect international law, including the law of the sea, and in particular the sovereignty and sovereign rights of EU member-states.

On August 14, foreign ministers of 27 EU member states reiterated the bloc’s full solidarity with Greece and Cyprus after the recent military build-up in the eastern Mediterranean with France, Egypt, Greece, the EU, Israel and the US ranged against his adventurism.
