You are probably right Plasybryn but as Linz points out there are lots of undervalued companies vying for shareholder money.
For me it's unacceptable for a Ceo to think value will just out. It may well do but to continue to undersell the company is doing LT shareholders a disservice and is at odds to what he says in the divvy remarks about wanting to reward LT's.

What is the logic of selling large chunks at the moment? Can anyone explain please?

As stated previously, the potential to acquire value abounds across the whole mining and commodities sector at the moment. Realising that value is a matter of one's own investment strategy and, crucially, timing.

That 'value' might be said to be a function of revenue versus risk, and the share price a product of market cap.
AAU is a healthy AU/Ag producer with little to no risk. So, at the current market cap, how much downside could there seriously considered to be from here? Whereas, on the the upside, the potential here is huge.

A pretty dead cert, I'd say, that "value will out..".

One buy this morning and then a 551K sell on the other exchange....

Agree totally soulsauce but Kerim with youth on his side lives in the world and belief that value will out. Given the potential for transformational news over the next 3/6 months or so and given the price we are starting from, I can't see that fail to materialise, PR or no PR.

But surely the value disconnect has quite a bit to do with the constant underselling of the company Plasybryn, as mentioned in my post last night.
Will that change? Doubtful.

Simples, beg, steal, borrow, to buy today then pay back debts on Friday.

At these prices surely it makes sense to do so. Even if you hadn't considered doing so before, the current value disconnect coupled to the pent up news flow makes this a low risk capital appreciation play in my opinion. But will there be a scrabble for shares. Who will get their cash first. Those with shares in Nominee holdings have no certainty when on Friday it will be in their account. That could be annoying if the price quickly moves forward.

I expect MDV, his wife and Kerim will all reinvest the divi money that arrives in their SIPPs and ISAs

Not tempted to average down, Bosbus? Very wise, perhaps.
Wouldn't want to get caught out throwing more good money after bad...

A holding at 5.14 is still remarkably good value. I last topped up here earlier this year, when I couldn't believe my luck in being able to buy anything sub-5p (at around 4.95, or so).

However, that same remarkable value can be found across the entire sector at the moment, it seems. It's not just an AAU thing. Can't fully explain why that might be (unless the majority of the world actually believes that so-called 'tapering' is about to take place, and that inflation really is 'transitory') but it offers an extended, and veritable godsend, of a buying opportunity - for those not already fully invested.

Over time I have learned that my investment choices have more often than not been sound decisions (with notable, but relatively few, disastrous exceptions). It's the TIMING that's proven to be the tricky bit: ie. buy into a rising trend and watch it plummet the very next day, or be tempted to take the profit only to see the stock you've been patiently invested in for years hit the stratosphere.

But, you're undoubtedly correct that AAU is going to become good, one day, and many of us are disappointed, nay 'astounded', that the share price isn't closer to 10p now than 5, but it's all about timing and 'averageing down' at 4.6p right now might be a sounder decision than one might think.
After all, you wouldn't want to be left regretting it...

I was naive enough to believe that the divi, when announced , was imminent. We were on a roll and I reinvested it in AAU the next day. What a let down it has proved to be. I've not sold any and it's one of my biggest holdings. I break even @ 5.14. Absence of news on Cyprus is another concern. I'm sure this is going to come good but not confident enough to add. Will probably regret it!

No I won't be reinvesting mine either, I feel I have enough but I wish those that do all the best.
Until the company start promoting themselves better, provide more vision as to where the company is heading and how we are going to get there and get that PG note sorted then I will either hold it in cash or top up on one of my others.

One of the great features of a dividend is that — in contrast to retained earnings — the shareholder isn't obliged to reinvest it in shares of the issuing company. In fact, I almost never use a dividend to top up in the issuer: Usually the market is offering something else at a more attractive valuation at the time.

For this reason, I prefer to invest in high-yielding shares, or in shares with a reasonable prospect of paying good dividends within a few years.

I, for one, will not be reinvesting Ariana's forthcoming dividend stream in Ariana, although I like the company and am a long-term holder. I would expect investors with a similar view to do likewise, but doubtless there are many who think otherwise.

I think many will hope there isn't any news till after the payout, so the cash can be used to buy more Ariana shares at these knock down, unrepresentative prices. I hand it in mind that we wouldn't get an update on Cyprus, in any event, till October. We shall see. In Q4 the Tavsan E.I.A., Cyprus update, Salinbas, Kosovo & Eastern Europe & Exploration/Development Plans should mean a bumper run on accretive news. Happy for all that to be all post the pay-out for obvious reasons.

I posted once on that CHF board and got castigated for mentioning the Venus discovery, never again.

Today I've broken my New Year's resolution that I would not increase my AAU holding. Earlier picked up 195k with a bit of cash from the back of the sofa. Let's hope I'm in profit on those by the end of the week.

Although excellance is a bit of a left handed monkey wrench, the point is valid that the silence from Cyprus is strange, given we had some initial news fairly early.
Not that I think anything is wrong.
