It's all relative. I was reading about the dust storms and higher temperatures in the 20's in the US when the fires were apparently multiples of today. Then they introduced forestry mgmt and they reduced dramatically in the 50's. Then environmentalist interfered with the forestery mgmt and left dead wood to rot etc and as a consequence fires have increased again but still way lower than 20's. Read Dr Neil Franks.

Correction post 6971 should read West of Salinbas not east.

I have a friend in Hopa which is only 60-70km from the Salinbas project, whilst they have had heavy rain the last couple of days, and today predicted an inch, it is not a concern (at the moment) and the forecast is good for the next week or so. so hopefully all is well there. Fire and floods are going to be playing a significant part in the world going forward, something else to add to the risk management when assessing projects.
I do a great line in storm tanks and fire water tanks if ever needed! ;)

Foods hit Northern Turkey.

Worse appears to be a few hundred km east of Salinabas, further rain expected along Black sea coast for a few days.

Perhaps a question for AGM regarding situation re imminent drilling program at Salinbas anyone?

You can submit your questions in writing beforehand asking the Chairman to act as your representative.

Lifestyle company usually means insufficient attention paid to shareholder issues but with a strong bias towards core activities that enhance corporate longevity. The company appears to be shy of promoting itself via its house broker, giving clear PR statements and it fights shy of accountability in the form of timelines which they sadly stopped doing a few years ago. If anyone is going to the AGM I would be grateful if someone could raise these issues. Unfortunately I can't go myself for health reasons.

AAU in twitter today:-Reminder that our AGM is on Wednesday 18 August, which will be held in person. Voting will be by poll only, so we encourage shareholders to exercise their proxy votes. An AGM presentation and Q&A will be provided and we look forward to seeing you. #AAU #gold #mine

I would think it's the latter because if it's the former then serious question have to be asked as to why they are in that position, when turkey is so intrinsic to their operation.

I would suggest they thought they could take the proceeds out and distribute half of it immediately upon completion of the capital reduction, which we now know/assume can't be done as it would result in loss of "significant tax benefits".

There was never any mention of a phased dividend over 12 months.

If they knew they at the time that they couldn't distribute the funds immediately then their communications skills are even more lacking than everybody thinks.

William Payne, our part time CFO who is up for re-election at the AGM, has been a partner in a "top 20 accountancy practice" for 18 year. Surely he should have been able to get decent professional advice on the tax implications of the disposal.

Drilling at Salinbas could start again in just over 2 weeks. September. If that isn't exciting I don't know what is. They've had heavy rain & floods in Northern Turkey so let's hope this and any needed permits don't get in our way. I'm sure everyone involved is champing at the bit to start again at Salinbas. The elephant in the room hopefully.

OZ will make salinbas a huge resource then you will get the detractors saying why didn't you keep it not realising we didn't have money to explore . You watch

i think the salinbas resource upgrade as a result of ozaltin drilling during due diligence was a big plus but not reflected in the share price unless it only happened in my imagination! (i have not checked earlier rns.)

my main point was - Ozaltin involvement since JV was announced not signed eg - possible lost time of the "enhanced cooperation" of cca 2 years !!! for all parties

second point - a road - sounds good but - length, road capacity&quality, costs .... - will tell if it is an AIM project story telling or for real. was it any additional marginal benefit for the JV there by Ozaltin involvement at all compared to any other supplier building that road

kaos, i agree with your comment on lack of visibility on ozaltin progress since jv completed, or if there has been progress made by ozaltin we have not been told (other than road).

but iirc prior to the jv they did due diligence drilling at salinbas which resulted in a significant resource upgrade. if i have got that wrong perhaps someone with a better memory can post a correction.

New bigger presentation planned for next week's AGM apparently. Let's hope that is a big step forward in open communication.
