Tavsan in production 2023... Salinbas in production 2025... Would be very happy if they managed that. Big if though.

From a Mining Maven... "But perhaps most importantly, the company's market capitalisation has already climbed from a couple of million pounds to almost £55 million at the time of writing". This sort of thing irks terribly, yes the mcap has increased but back then the share price was around 12p. They forgot to mention the dilution!

The miningmaven article is simply bought PR - there's nothing new or different about AAU's strategy as fad as i can see- they dig for precious metals, develop mining operations and sometimes do it in collaboration. Turkey's been a good focus for Kerim given his background and contacts in-country. I hope he explains the 'strategy' going forward in a convincing way today. I still hold because I think its undervalued and probably unlikely to fall much further on balance of probabilities. And I like gold and cash. But if we want to grow much further I think we need a wise old owl to take over as Chair of the Board and from time to time guide Kerim as CEO to seething through the eyes of us pi's. and institutional investors

Exactly...when does it go ex-div? We should have been told this morning.

This way it is not repaying loyal shareholders as was the wording used by Kerim. If it is not set up correctly it will allow any old shareholder to dip in and out so it should have a closing date of today.

It would have been better to have described it as a special dividend and then the start of regular dividends. Or just start regular dividends without all the talk.
If they only want to pay out 0.35p, fine, but don't raise expectations.

Another thing I mused about around the same time, was for AAU to buy CHF. Maybe that's where the rest is going to go?!

Thoughts in addition to those others have mentioned......
Would allow directors with options to exercise, some or all, of said options and get remaining dividend without selling shares.
Tax implications of directors especially those possibly subject to Australian tax rules?
Time scales of being able to pay dividends from Turkish intermediate company into AAU plc
Hopefully it is the precursor of a regular dividend which AAU plc can get from Turkish subsidiary once JV company making sufficient profit to pay dividends from result of developments at Kiziltepe / Tavsan (in the end)

Yes zedder and I agreed with you a bit at the time of paying it in two installments to alleviate the drop in the share price somewhat, but this is a bit of kicker and a distance away from what they were led to expect.

Rather than pay a special dividend might it be worth the company stating they will release it as half-year and yearly dividends as a precursor to the time production will allow a sustainable dividend?

So arguably they've achieved both today, ie a Special Dividend and hopefully the start of regular dividends that will continue into the future.

Plas, 3.5p will cover the cost of the caravan but I was hoping to be able to keep the wife in the style she would like to become accustomed to. Anything for a quiet life.
I'm not impressed with the amount or delay in payments, my caculations give around 1p a share, it will be interesting to see how they account for the figures we approved for the sale of a large portion of the company at the SGM. This is not what was approved.

Poor reading of the market by Kerem. He's naive to think this would satisfy pi's after all the delays....he's losingtrustfairlyrapidly, and as for becoming an investment fund....

It's not what we'd been led to expect over the last months and yes years. Anyone counting on the cash this year might feel they have to sell?

Hi I can't make meeting. But I'm interested to know their rationale for following: spreading the dividend, it also appears to be less than the 50% of the proceeds unless charges and tax were significantly higher than expected and if ratification is required by shareholders is the final tranche not the start of a regular dividend? If so state this. For the record my understanding was a one off special dividend of half proceeds. This outcome doesn't match that expectation which will cheese and has cheesed some off but if there are sound business reasons for it then hopefully they will communicate this at the meeting. Stretching two tax years doesn't help as I can move further 20k to isa so £350 i don't have to pay 38.1% tax on . So £100 benefit. I'm in for long run so spreading doesn't worry me too much but the sizeable one off would imho have inticed more to reinvest because it would have been substantial but who knows.

Well, after due consideration I support the "prudent" divi announcement.

Fact is I was always a bit uncomfortable with dishing the excess cash out in one blow, it would have played havoc with the sp, and this way we can perhaps now see the size of regular dividends way into the future. This will give the market an opportunity to better value the company, whether that leads to an improved sp, well we shall see.

As previously mentioned these views come from being a long term supporter, in for another five years at least, and I have to say I am confused by those with shorter horizons who expected to receive both the divi and their purchase price returned.

Todays meeting should be interesting though.

Good luck to all.

I'm actually relatively happy with this approach and did suggest it several months ago.Does it now make AAU eligible for being held in the likes of GDXJ? If so that could be a game changer for the share price over the next year.
