How does it work?Drilling machinery provides the operator with real-time grade guidance while they are drilling. What this means is that they are given information about the desired depth, slope and alignments (which was traditionally given to them by a specialist inspecting the site). Drilling samples are sent to laboratories for geologists to access the grade. Why use it?Controlling the grade is important for two reasons:EconomicsThe grade of the mineral can vary dramatically due to depth. Geologists will use this information to define the economic limits, to ensure there is return on investment when mining the mineral. At one point in an operation, mining becomes unprofitable because the grade of the metal is too low – the value of the metal in the ore is less than what it costs to mine it. Grade control stops businesses from running at a loss.MillingThe milling process is designed to be as efficient as possible by being performed at a specific grade. When mining in a high-grade zone, it is possible for some of the metal to be lost unless it is blended with low grade metal.ProfitabilityGrade control technology improves efficiency, increasing the productivity and profitability of an operation. Grade control systems allow machinery to operate at a continuous pace, rather than having to stop for a grade checker to come and measure the excavation, as with conventional equipment – a process that often needs reworking. It also decreases the need to do prep work and to check the grade after the deck. The overall benefit is that it will save you time (and thus money), without compromising on accuracy.

Grade control results 2M at 17.90 grams per tonne - what does this actually mean....?

I understand comments here but if figures are correct it gives me comfort just in case an issue delays or prevents mining for a period

Ore mined effectively has greater value than reserves or resources in the ground buy not full value of the gold contained for the reasons stated (processing costs). I don't think this fact makes a material difference to be honest.

No Plasybryn happy to sit on the sidelines at the moment until sentiment changes. Fwiw not having much luck in my others apart from Ptal 🙄 ATB.

Hope so soulsauce! Out of interest are you back in? You did well to sell when you did and can now buy much cheaper.

Hmmm not sure Plasybryn. Good luck for this week all. Should be a big week.

I agree soulsauce, and you can of course also value miners on gold in the ground. Different values for Inferred, Indicated and Proven & Measured. But stockpiles of high grade ore must hold a pretty big value. I'm not sure what discount should however be applied. I expect there is an industry recognised figure.

I am not sure how much difference it makes until it is processed and sold. By the same argument you could say Aau have £xxxx share of gold in the ground it owns which would be a much higher figure. Just because it has been mined and laying in a pile doesn't make a difference surely until it is sold?

Biggles - that is if cornishknocker's numbers are correct. I think they might be a bit on the high side, but still very significant and don't include other stockpiles I believe we have at other satellites. So yes again even on stockpiles alone our current Market Cap. looks a nonsense imo.

biggles - you might have thought a AAU analyst might have picked that up already!

So our share of the already mined stockpile is worth £7.75m which is 39% of our markets cap.

This is an extract from an excellent post by cornishknocker on LSE talking about our stockpile. Worth reading his whole post and calculations."Finally the August figures were 43,367 Tonnes mined, 48,312 Tonnes Processed @ 4.18g/t reducing the stockpile by 4,945 Tonnes to 100,112 tonnes at about 4.25g/t (425,476 grams of gold) or just over $20 million".

More of the same performance would be welcome. I feel as debt for cap ex is nearly repaid it will give shareprophets an excuse to tell their punters to buy at 2p with an expectation of 3p but sell at 2.1p!!!!

Ariana are offering one to one consultations during the day which perhaps is more appropriate for Institutions. But I suspect P.G. know all the likely names and have no doubt arranged personal meetings with the directors probably taking place at the Fund Mgr's office or at P.G's. The expectation that an Institutional Fund Manager is going to turn up out of the blue, unaware previously of the story at a predominantly retail (private) shareholder event, is in my opinion very unlikely. It happens with FTSE 100 Co's but very rarely with AIM. But lets see what happens. If the news beforehand (next week hopefully) is so new and so important, perhaps Analysts and I.Investors might be tempted out. Perhaps personal invitations have been issued to try and get them to attend. More of the same, as I have said before, is largely a waste of time. There has to be a new twist.

We'd be complaining if they never did any presentations though. I agree a few institution need to be present. Won't start on about Panmure Gordon again.

They need to get the story out to the big players no matter how few. Very much a quality over quantity strategy needs to be employed. Having said that, that applies to the impatient among us. If they continue to under promise and over deliver, the market will reward and the fundamentals will win the day. It may take a little longer, but that's a positive for those accumulating.

That's my understanding, whatever that's worth. In a closed period, the same regulation which prevents directors/employees buying shares for a period running up to potential share price relevant news applies. Giving shareholders, however few news before a release would I believe leave them open to substantial fines for effectively being complicit in inciting insider trading.

If there is nothing much new to discuss I don't understand AAU going down the same route in appealing to a room full of PI's that probably already hold and know most of what is happening. Hopefully they will get institutional attendance with a willingness to invest.

I agree biggles. As I understand it any news that is price affecting has to be released in the public domain, not in a closed meeting.
