12/8/2020 04:56 | Oh dear. The discussion seems to have deviated alarmingly. I suggest a return to AAU related topics may be a good idea. | jc2706

11/8/2020 23:33 | Politics aside, I am expecting a healthy movement in POG tomorrow with ONS data for June's GDP being released. GDP will have fallen for the second consecutive quarter and this is the official definition of a recession. Onwards and upwards for gold in the near future again. | bonehanmer
11/8/2020 23:12 | Vladimir Putin was savaged by scientists today for his 'reckless and foolish' claim that Russia has developed the world's first effective coronavirus vaccine. Putin says the vaccine offers 'sustainable immunity' against Covid-19 and says his daughter has already been given the jab, with Russia eyeing up mass injections as soon as October - causing widespread alarm because it has not yet passed clinical trials. One scientist blasted Putin's move as 'unethical' because an 'improperly tested vaccine' could have 'disastrous' effects on public health, while others warned that there is 'no data' to tell whether the Russian vaccine is effective. Another expert warned that 'the damage from release of any vaccine that was less than safe and effective would exacerbate our current problems insurmountably'. | 1candc
11/8/2020 23:06 | If you listen to some of Putins interviews you will see the guy is very smart. Just look at who the west have in power, Trump, Boris, Macron, Merkel Lol!! | a.fewbob
11/8/2020 23:04 | I like the Russians, Putin included. Funny how the west feels the need to sanction to death other nations in order to prove to the world how our left wing culture is superior to there’s. | a.fewbob
11/8/2020 22:57 | Jeeze lighten up, it was said in jest. I am glad the nature of the post was not lost on some. | soulsauce
11/8/2020 22:16 | Have you ever actually been to Russia Soalsauce? From your somewhat cliche stereo typical summing up I’m going to have to assume not. They have an excellent health care system. I’m not sure why you would think they aren’t capable of being the first to produce a working vaccine? Were they not the First Nation to put a man in space? Apparently Putins daughter has taken the vaccine so it can’t be all bad I wouldn’t have thought. | alwaysevolving
11/8/2020 21:23 | Anyone panicking about gold needs help, needs a pullback to advance to higher highs | pranchalee
11/8/2020 20:36 | Well, after today, sleeping might be more of a problem than waking up. Still, it surely will relatively short lived and nothing a good RNS couldn't put right. | gerrystewart
11/8/2020 19:45 | It’s woke you up anyway | pranchalee
11/8/2020 19:15 | Actually, Pranchalee, they are not the 'same' in the sense of one being a mirror image of the other. 'Employment' is fairly unambiguous though a person could have more than one job and therefore be counted as if they were separate individuals. Being 'unemployed' on the other hand requires you to be an 'active' labour market 'participant' (i.e you don't have a job but you are both available and actively looking for a job). So, you either register as 'unemployed' (and are part of the 'claimant' count) or are counted as part of a survey methodology .So, both unemployment and employment could rise simultaneously if, as is often the case during periods of strong economic activity, some who were previously 'inactive', decide to come into the labour market 'cos the prospects of getting a job are better. Some will find one, others won't, the latter being counted/described as 'unemployed' It might appear pedantic (and I might come across as a 'pedant') but I'm just in that kind of mood today 'cos all of my gold plays are being hammered. So, apologies to all for a topic which is hardly likely to excite the intellect. | gerrystewart
11/8/2020 16:36 | Nice bounce back at the end there... Have we found strong support at 5p? Let's hope so... In the absence of a proper collapse in the POG anyway... | cyberbub
11/8/2020 16:32 | Those MMs are having a laugh. As soon as I put an order in for 200k they upped the price to 5.2!! | charles clore
