Sorry if you find it a bit exasperating explaining it at this basic level, but I find it really interesting even if not entirely convinced of its utility - forward looking predictions seem to be more of an art rather than science. But do appreciate you sharing.

Yump - your 'challenge' is nonsense :)If I know and understand TA sufficiently well to use it profitably for a living, which I did, for 5 different investment banks between 1997 and 2012. And have do with my own money since. Why do I care if you 'believe' it or not? If you don't that's fine. As i say, to me it's as ridiculous as someone telling me they don't believe in gravity. Because I know damn well that something is sticking my feet to the ground.Tyke2 is being a little militant, but I have to confess i can understand his exasperation. To a Chartist all there is is the chart. With equities I also like there to be a viable company underneath it! However with forex and indices, my bread and butter, all I need is a chart

"The more complex the pattern analysis, the more credible it looks."
That may be true but from a practical pov the reverse is true in my experience. The simpler the analysis the more affective it is.
I'm with SNF on this. I've used TA almost exclusively for the past 45 years and although I'm a poor trader, I'm definitely well up overall.

President elect Joe Biden gets sworn in today. His intention to heal divisions in US society, vaccinate 100 million Americans in 100 days and inject $1.4 trillion into the US economy will strengthen the dollar, weaken gold and send bitcoin into a tailspin. What your're witnessing is just the start of this process. Be careful. OBC has halved since its high a few days back. This will follow suit.

Nothing like spreadbetting has any real effect on prices aiden.
The waves which are caused by human unconscious herding are natural and cycle constantly at all degrees of trend. AlL stocks move the same way. They are just traded tickers. There are no exceptions. Outside events...just add to volatility.

Well I sold arb closer to the top. My last port of call was ZOE....sold that at 80p after buying at 10p a few weeks before. Wanna know the next big one ?

So, TAs on here. Would I be right in saying that from your perspective there are no such thing as market bubbles. The price is always right?

The best strategy is to believe what you want to believe and then go 'la la la la I'm not listening', if it doesn't work or you get it wrong, rather than correcting your belief.

Its gives a lot more security that thinking you're wrong. Ego intact.

That's why there's always room to make money on the market, if you're stone cold. All those people thinking they've got a magic formula or found a magic share.

Try monitoring bb's for posting patterns and volumes, vs. share price movements - its quite interesting. Particularly pattern changes.

The charts tell you what people have done. The bb's might tell you what they're likely to do.

If you worked for a spreadbetting firm you could try to influnce the market based on the weighting of shorts v longs.#sherlock

Don't worry nico,

Risk v reward is second nature for a chartist.
We know there are no sure things. There's only you with a crystal ball apparently.

I don't own any arb...i'm technical....it's dropping.
