15/1/2021 18:49 | Gold moves first and foremost with yields | nico115
15/1/2021 18:43 | Hi horneblower The gold price depends upon the sentiment of traders too. It cycles higher and lower. Look at the platinum price...it has been far higher than gold....and far lower. Scarcity doesn't matter. Look at crude oil. Not so long ago it was well over 100 quid a barrel. Last spring it was absolutely worthless. | 2tyke
15/1/2021 18:38 | Hi yump, No that's not the case at all. These studies have always been done under very controlled conditions. For example, traders have been given a very thorough brief about various companies before assessing a real-life RNS that they don't know about. All studies have shown that knowing the news in advance doesn't help. This is something most investors/traders find. Good news very often starts a share price sell-off. It actually depends upon the share price trend. An uptrend is re-inforced by good news. A down-trending stock tends to ignore good news. Either way...news doesn't drive price. | 2tyke
15/1/2021 18:24 | "Studies have shown that when investors are told the 'news' in advance, they don't have more than a 50/50 chance of predicting what the share price will do.ie, pure guesswork." Assuming that is true (although if they were given no business history to the stock or the price, then the study is pointless as it doesn't prove anything other than without other information nobody can predict a price movement), This does not follow: "That's because outside events are not the driver of stocks." You've used something I assume can be referenced as a valid, although pointless, study and then attached your own belief to it. Which is the worst sort of bad reasoning similar in type to the sort used by Creationists. | yump
15/1/2021 18:22 | 2tyke, You say "Scarcity has nothing to do with it, or else the price would always rise and it doesn't." I'm intrigued; are you saying that if gold suddenly became as common as say copper, the price of gold wouldn't fall? | horneblower
15/1/2021 18:09 | Matty, 'Suspect btc fall is because the fed' -------------- Most investors thought this would make btc soar. You highlight an interesting thing. Studies have shown that when investors are told the 'news' in advance, they don't have more than a 50/50 chance of predicting what the share price will do.ie, pure guesswork. That's because outside events are not the driver of stocks. In the case of btc....there are no fundamental drivers...it's virtual. The only driver is the sentiment of the traders. And that's a natural cycle which depends upon only 'price'. | 2tyke
15/1/2021 17:29 | Possible DT. | equity growth
15/1/2021 17:18 | Mnomis Actually was thinking of possible t/o relationships but hadn’t thought about vulnerability as you mention | yump
15/1/2021 17:17 | If you believe strongly, as I do, that BTC will see $100,000 maybe this year or sometime next, then today's fall is a golden opportunity to continue buying ARB . My last tranche was around 110p and a small nibble today at 101p, so I'm rigidly sticking to my buying ARB on 10% or so dips. I think ARB is too volatile, at least for me, to attempt trading and am quite happy to hold here for the longer term big rewards. The weekend's BTC movements should be worth watching. | crypto nugget
15/1/2021 17:13 | That explains why I only just managed to get some before some of the rise ;-) | yump

15/1/2021 16:25 | Its all change post Brexit.ARB will grow | aidenabettin
15/1/2021 16:23 | Yump - you being sarcastic re share price? Right now, ARB is still a sitting duck against Riot / Mara paper if they come sniffing ... if ARB wants to be the dominant listed miner, it needs to get the word out and close the valuation gap, hence the strategy playing out. Right now, too easy for competitors to issue their expensive paper to buy up rigs ... assume you have been following this all. | mnomis
15/1/2021 16:19 | Well once we are closed there's nothing you can do but watch btc this weekend, | 7rademark
