You are correct, though. If a formal offer either had been or is received, there is a regulatory obligation for the company to inform the market. However...

...the flip side of that particular coin is that there is precisely no requirement at all for any AIM-listed company to inform the market of any indicative, non-binding, non-committal or otherwise casual offer. So it's pretty pointless (and not exactly cheap) for any company to do so.

(That is, unless there's any need or desire to see a spike in the share price, if only short-term...)
