29/5/2015 23:23 | My prediction, here today, 125p 31st Sept 2015. Well, you're quite safe from having to admit on that day that you got the price wrong... ;-) Gengulphus | gengulphus
29/5/2015 06:13 | Thank you for the post about efforts to cleanse coal. let's hope they develop those new technolgies rapidly. I note the following from the article:- The Chinese system as a whole has great weaknesses as well as great strengths. Its challenges, as I have reported so often in these pages, make the threats facing America look trivial by comparison. ALL IMO. DYOR. QP | quepassa
29/5/2015 01:31 | What happened to that fusion process that was going warm us all on cold winter and save the world ? AP in the Telegraph used to write about it. | bolador
28/5/2015 17:49 | They might drop a little in short term but greed still rules and energy needs to be provided....now, not tomorrow! Stock has actually recovered ok today. My prediction, here today, 125p 31st Sept 2015. If I am way out, happy to be lambasted! | gavapentin
28/5/2015 17:16 | As QP correctly pointed out some time ago, there will be a snowball effect as coal stocks get hammered. | rcturner2
28/5/2015 17:01 | I think the only warning which may need to be given is of anyone who has non-stop and shamelessly been ramping this share for the last three years whilst the the share has in fact collapsed from 300p+ to less than a quid. Anyone who has been sucked in by this relentless ramping will have lost money. Any person who openly mocks the relevance of the Church of England's recent change of stance on coal-related investing would undoubtedly not have any concept, notion or grasp of the status of the Norwegian State Sovereign Fund nor the gravitas and likely reach and impact of its remarkable actions described in The Guardian today. The irony of Norway's announcement today given its oil-based wealth is a valid point. I suppose however that emissions from oil are perhaps somewhat less polluting than coal. I am not the only person in the world who is perceiving how the green lobbies are now beginning to have a very serious impact on sentiment surrounding CO2 emissions. It is hard to ignore. Maybe there are growing millions of people who are joined at the hip on this one. Sentiment on coal as a result of Norway's decisions may further be damaged. ALL IMO. DYOR. QP | quepassa
28/5/2015 13:07 | QPs post was highly relevant, but the pious nature and irony needs not to be lost (of the Norwegians (who I highly regard)). Still it stands that money will follow where money can be maximised. | gavapentin
28/5/2015 11:59 | Well, APF is a coal stock, so I assume holders are interested if one of the largest investors in the world is moving out of coal stocks. | rcturner2
28/5/2015 10:13 | I'm sure Que Passa Hombre and RC Turner2 are joined at the hip, mutual agreement society ? | djgrantb
28/5/2015 10:02 | 7275 - highly recommended post. | neilyb675
28/5/2015 09:54 | WARNING Ignore QuePassa posts, as his posts bear no relevance to Anglo Pacific group whatsoever. This individual continually posts in this thread that does not give answers. On numerous occasions has been told to contact the investor relations to voice his concerns but has never even attempted to do so. He is hiding behind a name in this thread, hiding his true motives, he does not own any shares in the company yet he continually posts in this thread. Weird! If you do not own shares or have any interest in the company why waste your time here? Is he a disgruntled employee or has he lost his job or lost money betting against APF ? Has he come out of a mental institution? Weird person! | christh
28/5/2015 09:50 | Of course there is a spot if irony here...without North Sea oil, Norway would have precious little national wealth nor funds to divest. Strikes me as a classic ex smoker!! | gavapentin
28/5/2015 08:19 | Good spot. extract from article about Norway Sovereign Wealth Fund:- QUOTE The value of the shares that will be divested could be as much as $5.5bn, including stakes in big European and US power companies, head of Greenpeace in Norway, Truls Gulowsen, said. Heffa Schücking, who has written several reports on Norway’s wealth fund, said: “This is fantastic news and it will send a strong signal to investors all over the world. Coal is yesterday’s fuel.” UNQUOTE to see yet another globally respected investor and highly respected Sovereign Wealth Fund shunning coal is further evidence of growing anti-coal momentum amongst investors. What strikes me is the low hurdle which has been set for coal divestiture by Norway. Just 30%. Any investment which derives more than just 30% from coal is to be on the divestiture list. ALL IMO. DYOR. QP | quepassa
22/5/2015 11:32 | Let's start with the Oil Minister of Saudi Arabia ( heard of them?-biggest exporter of crude in the world ). Speaking yesterday at the Paris climate change conference, Minister Ali Al- Naimi is predicting that fossil fuels will become a thing of the past by 2050. Ali Al-Naimi said yesterday they recognise that fossil fuels will be a thing of the past as renewable energies such as solar are developed. Watch the full and essential interview with him on Bloomberg. If Saudi Arabia is forecasting the end for fossil fuels by 2040 to 2050, it seems a very bleak outlook for Australian coal. If you want to continue sticking your heads in the sand, don't read the following report by the International Renewable Energy Agency about renewables:- The cost of solar energy is plummeting. Coal is a legacy energy and experts agree that it continues on its downward spiral. ALL IMO. DYOR. QP | quepassa
22/5/2015 11:05 | QP, you will not be missed if you go!!! Fed up with your unjustified posts which bear no reality, no truth whatsoever. You are going on and on about the harmful effects of coal. Yet the coal has now been brought forward in the modern world of supossingly "environmental pollutants" but they have now introduce filters, blockers, converters to stop the CO2 or other gasses emitting in the immediate atmosphere and the planet as a whole. Technology is progressed too and coal is changed as a fuel. No matter what you are saying countries will live, thrive, survive in using coal as the first fuel available to generate power, burn furnaces etc. It's not point shouting in here as there are more sensible and more informative people in here who know about science and economics. Meanwhile good old APF is heading up North to 150p, the next milestone. So is sour grapes for you, as you have not bought. | christh
22/5/2015 09:31 | Hi Hay, You are sorely missed on this bulletin board. You always had so many good comments to make and valuable insights. Lovely to hear from you and hope that life is treating you well. Best wishes, QP | quepassa
22/5/2015 08:43 | QP Your critique of APF over the last few years has been of great value. At the top of the price range you highlighted the weakness of the company. Your views have been aided & abetted by the markets in resource stocks, but at the time I was far too blinked by the record over the years I had held & failed to spot the problems of an ageing bod. I departed after @ 10yrs but still keep an eye on the situation & as ever note that they have still not monetised the CDN coal. The new bod seems to be trying to dig itself out of a hole at the moment, but life will get easier as the revenue rolls in next yr. They are active & well invested themselves which bodes well for the future. Keep up the debate in my absence. Still a good bb. Regards to all Hay | haydock
21/5/2015 16:43 | QP, I confess to have been wrong on this one over the last year. Maybe I am still wrong, but we shall see. Obviously I should have bought more TALK which at least is going the right way ;-) | stevie blunder
21/5/2015 09:58 | 7262 - for the avoidance of doubt, I have voted your post down. | neilyb675 |
