I've no idea what IG are up to, it's all word of mouth right now but if they are requiring people to increase their margin from 25 to 100% for small cap stocks it needs much more than a weeks notice. Otherwise it could lead to a lot of weakness as it doesn't take much volume to cause big movement in small capsOn crypto I see Siam Kidd on twitter called BTC to 50k about a year ago and is now calling a crash. When something has absolutely no fundamentals I'm not sure there's anything sensible anyone can say other than they think it might go up or down. The fact that it is being suggested that Bitcoin has transformed Iran's finances might give pause for thought though.

That will explain some of the selling pressure in certain stocks. Things not going your way, just change the rules. An ok week though, pound at 1.40 against the dollar and 1.15 in euroland, far enough for now. Great news for Avct and Odx, well done to all who steadfastly held positions. Orph had a good week after months of sideways and down so well done to holders there as well. Arb continues to be the gift that keeps on giving and I am unashamedly along for the ride. Again my thanks to Brasso who kept on going on about Bitcoin and pointed me in the right direction, it’s been emotional!

I think crypto is due a rest next week. I will take the following:-

XTR - Drill 3 results should be in.
UFO - I think there is a lot upward pressure on silver waiting to be released.
PPC - Operational update due on Monday. Should be good with high Brent oil prices.

Oh blimey. That’s not good.
Whilst I’m not so bothered about 100% margin, if they move to closing only that will be a blow to my future plans.
I was thinking I’d be doing a lot more spreadbetting in the future if CGT does change this budget. I was going to move all my trading outside my ISA to s/b via IG.

Apparently IG are going to move 1,000 UK stocks to 100% margin requirement next week and possibly to closing only. I'm not certain, they have been phoning people up and I've not had the call yet but someone told me EML was affected so I closed my SB there yesterday. I also as a precaution closed by PXC Sb, both of those were large enough to be potentially illiquid.I had a high profile investor on the phone to me furious about it, so we'll have to see what pans out.

I have been reading the LSE thread on AVCT - that is where the Huffington Post article was first linked as far as I can tell; similar articles are also in the Mirror, Sun, Sharebuyers website and elsewhere - looking good :)

The required spreadbetting margin was increased to 100% this week by IG on a number of stocks including CEY and HOC. Perhaps this is just the start..more stocks to follow in the coming weeks perhaps?

wowzer, BTC just broke 56000,,,, feels like next Friday I'll be saying,, YIKES, BTC just broke 70000 and the week after 100,000,,,, this whole situation is incredible really,,,, and yet, I still have no idea what to make of it all :-) very best of luck to all playing the crypto game,, Cheers Wan :-)

I'll have to have a look at PLTR myself, Dave got shook out but he'll be back there no doubt. My biggest worry right now is the rumour that IG are going to ruin the spreadbetting fun in the small cap sector. Picture should be clearer next week but rumours aren't good
