30/6/2020 07:22 | Given up on a Q1 exploration update. Now expecting a H1 one. Doubt it will be released in combination with JORC report though; suppose that will be on hold again until independent Geologists make it to site.... after this new lockdown is relaxed. Assume it's been imposed over same provinces as last one; the one Gedabek+Gosha are in was included in the April->May lockdown. Ought to check really. But in any event, flying in/out and passing through Baku or whatever city will be tricky. Hope a 3rd chartered flight of gold got away; maybe even now can get special dispensation? | 2sporrans

29/6/2020 23:24 | Thanks for that link dp What PM said confirmed me as to my take on the recent Hardman report. Also, between what he said and last of the answers to questions for the AGM wrt 100k-oz gold production, it became clearer that this is should not be regarded as an upper limit; not beyond 2025 for sure. "100,000 ounces or more per year output is the next target" The way Bill Morgan put it recently, came across rather as if 100k was the limit of AAZ's ambitions, short of a large porphyry discovery at Gedabek or Ordubad or some other development at the latter. From what PM said and ".....the scale of increase and timing is dependent upon exploration results" and the reference to future "targets", rather than [100k] target, is suggestive of a series of step ups, should more and more gold be progressively revealed. The increases in production will be resource led rather than capped by a very conservative approach to capital spend on plant capacity. As Thomas posted, grades will be key; anything commensurate with a low AISC I'd say. Ditto of course the quantities. All said, i guess AAZ will only want to step up capacity if, at very least, it can be fully employed over sufficient years to exceed capital payback, from production above what any previous lower capacity would generate. I mean they won't want to step up to say 120k and the production ends up falling back to an av. of 80k several years hence as they could have kept up say 100k over some of those 80k years without stepping up over 100k capacity. Well, makes sense to me as i'm tapping this out. I'd suppose that AAZ will expect to operate plant close to full capacity, at least until 2032, just sourced from main pit, Gadir and whatever other new epithermal resources are bought into production in Gedabek + Gosha CAs. A large, accessible, porphyry resource will be a complete game changer of course, even if it's more of a copper one. | 2sporrans
29/6/2020 20:53 | For those who have not seen the American approach to face masks, its worth a look at the video just down this page below. It captures the situation perfectly. As you will see from the video, these individuals can talk in front of the cameras about “their rights” being infringed. I love the USA, but this shows why during this pandemic I'm happy to be on this side of the pond. At least the angry people don't have guns: | pantsonfire

29/6/2020 18:15 | Just caught up with the weekend's reading. Quality discussion as always. Some went over my head, but I appreciate everyone's efforts! I've a couple of comments re dividends. Learnt that Ex-Dividend dates are nearly always on a Thursday. Can't remember if that was posted on this BB or elsewhere. 20 years I've been doing this, and hadn't noticed before. True to form, AAZ goes XD this Thurs. And a reminder that the Hardman research note predicted a 10.5c payout for 2020, followed by 8c in each of 2021 and 2022. I expect in reality we'll see a more gradual rise to 10.5c - that's more AAZ's style. Hoping we get an extra 0.5c per interim and final payout, as has happened so far. Nice research from odsjp in #36884. This JV really could be anywhere. Probably local to existing operations. But still the chance it's further afield. Something in USA, Canada, Aus would be amazing. Some premium valuations on gold producers in those locations. | bozzy_s

29/6/2020 17:44 | The "young" shouldn't think they're immortal. As reported by Washington Post..."60 percent of coronavirus patients in the hospital system are younger than 50 as infections in Houston continue to surge". | goodgrief
29/6/2020 17:43 | I was just interested that a fund sees a V shaped recovery with little short term sustained pull back and the reasons they believe that. I agree with them in the main that you cannot fight the fed and that governments around the world will do 'whatever it takes' to keep the ship afloat. So many people seem to be fearing another big plunge, well if that was the case we should all have already sold every stock we have including all our gold stocks as everything will get hit again, same as in March. C19 herd immunity kicks in when about 15% of the population have had the disease which can't be that far off. I think the BBC and other main stream media have led the government by the nose and invoked mass fear among the populous who largely have no understanding of the disease at all. The media have been urging the Govt. to speed up lockdown for a month or more but wait now they are saying its coming back and we all need to lockdown again, its all just noise. You have to make your own mind up on this, i said right from the start, isolate and distance yourself if you are vulnerable or old but if you are under 60 and have no underlying health condition just get on with your life. Don't get me started on BLM lol | fozzie

29/6/2020 16:19 | fozzie, I also enjoyed the long read. My issue was several fold: 1) The document does not carry a date. The best I could determine was that it was issued in late May, which in today's climate is a long time ago 2) For example (in timing terms), it talks of being optimistic about hydroxychloroquine 3) It talks of the USA situation being past its peak, which is questionable today, with many states now shutting down 4) There is lots of talk about financial stimulus, but little mention of the impact on gold, and today it's difficult to separate them Interesting, but I think that we've moved far from the basis presented. | pantsonfire
