I have always thought the spread is to benefit the spread betting companies.
They don't want you to purchase. Or if you do you are down a massive amount as soon as you buy.
Also, if you are thinking of selling through boredom,what better way than to have a look and see if you hit that button you are getting a much better price than you thought.

Main markets taking a bashing today.
Gold up, dollar down.More money going into the bank.

Look at monitor screen and see buys and sells at actual transaction price.
The bid and offer are indicative.
Last transaction was just over 130p

So why are the market makers not made to show the bid and offer, nearer reality. We are not all as fortunate as Matt to have such sophisticated information as to what is actually going on.

All 5 market makers are on the bid....that is firm and good.....but yes there is a 10p spread to the offer where there are 4 MM's...Buyers nibbling away at the offer will put pressure on it.....from all appearances they want the shares as there cannot be many around.....IMHO

Lol well I’m thinking everyday is a lazy summer day right now, I’m having to put high factor sunscreen on in the U.K!! Bloody marvellous really, just makes me lazy after about 10.30, can’t motivate myself to do more than eat a bit and drink a lot :)
