c0lin1, it's evident that the Trump crew are making it up as they go along, desperate to keep things propped up until the election, by which time it would seem likely that serious inflation will be taking hold. Do they then rapidly crank up interest rates?

The virus is proving most useful in hiding the banking crisis that never gets mentioned, but somehow this time the damage seems too great to wriggle out of without some sort of financial re-set. But of course it will all be the fault of the virus, and the reckless criminal bankers will get away with it again.

Brasso that resonates, I know several people that have been told to use Skype, MS teams whatever rather than travel; if it’s just a face to face meeting, it’s simply deemed unnecessary business expense at present. As for holidays, yes I agree this year, my wife is one that doesn’t want to go anywhere near an airport this year :(

DTG or Jet2 will come back as well. A very well run company imo. The best of the budget airlines, I use them regularly. Well diversified business. Fallen from £19 area.

Same thoughts here. There could be more upside with IAG. The short will be better around Q2 reporting and the realisation that air travel will not be the same for many years.

I have been travelling from Birmingham to Amsterdam every 3 weeks this year. Birmingham is one of the most efficient airports to get through passport/ security etc. There has only been 2 - 5 flights a day (Amsterdam, Dublin, Bucharest, Dubai) leaving Birmingham in the last few months. Last weekend it took me 30 minutes to get through security! Imagine how crazy it will be when there are multiple flights leaving within the same hour. I cannot see people want to put themselves through the misery and will opt for domestic vacations (this trend happened in 2008/ 2009).

With my company most of the employees take a business flight a few times a month with KLM. My company has been clamping down on this for years and now they have the perfect excuse to put a stop to it.

Easyjet and Ryanair will do well in the long term. The large clumsy airlines will suffer.

I’m keeping tabs on both IAG and EZJ but wary any easing and opening of air bridges will create a false spike. So my real leisure focus is CCL for shorting.

Price of Treasuries falling (yields rising), looks like people are losing confidence in the future value of the Dollar?

Just noticed this from 6/5/2020, which could take further pressure off the bio sector. [SKY]

"Goldman Sachs is in talks to buy a big portfolio of company stakes being sold by the asset manager Invesco in a race to shift illiquid holdings whose value has been hit by the coronavirus pandemic.

Sky News can reveal that a unit of Goldman Sachs Asset Management (GSAM) is closing in on a deal to acquire the positions, which include a holding in Oxford Nanopore, a gene sequencing specialist.

City sources said that an agreement to buy the private company stakes, which are nominally valued at hundreds of millions of pounds, could be finalised within weeks."

It looks like it's Blackrock using 10's of $ billions of FED money that is keeping the markets at silly levels. The FED is trying to buy the market via the back door of Blackrock, perhaps the smart money is dumping onto Blackrock? The number of holders is going to shrink leaving a much smaller number of players in the market.

Morning Wan and all, the sale of Woodfords liquid biotechs is at about half the total muted just last year. At least his investors will be getting some more money. From memory I think they have had just 50p in the pound thus far. Pretty sure Woodford himself was planning a comeback prior to Covid.
