"In our case at Aaz EV is mark cap plus cash"

Isn't EV=MC+Debt-cash?

So AAZ soething like 142+0-27=113 EV=£113mn ?

Gf, back to the importance of EV. It is fundamental when valuing companies as fundamentally companies should be valued based upon assets/cash flows to get to an EV. The capital structure ie equity and debt then allows the transition between EV and equity value. Debt is often fundamental to growing companies (not least aaz as had they used equity to fund the growth all those years ago shares wouldn't now be worth what they are) EV is the main valuation method used in the private equity world where the concept of market cap doesn't work as there is no free market in sharesEquity value (mkt cap in quoted company) is merely the EV less the debt, or plus the cash within the business In our case at Aaz EV is mark cap plus cash.

I hear the Orph placing was 7 times oversubscribed. Could be a pretty strong run coming there.

That was cruel, up 1p on offer then down 1p but actually down 3p on bid and some sucker sold and only got .oo1 inside, bigger fool him who ever it was and bloody greedy MM's again. Maybe the board should consider putting more stock into the market, at least it would make the market for this more stable and close the spread if there was more stock in citculation. As I don't know of another stock of this value, nevermind another goldie with a spread this wide.

Gf I don't know if PUR will need more funding. But I missed out on GGP because I had so much in AAZ and I bought much less POG that I otherwise would. The value of a share is simply a result of supply and demand. We need broker support and new analysts reports to change the balance. Simple as that

Great start to the week, Oilers a little slow to react to the rising oil price.

Aha, did wonder. Thanks Wan I’m resisting the urge to bank profits as still able to sell (or buy) decent chunks.
