11% a lot of similarity I agree. I must admit I am getting edgy about everything I hold now. Gold will drop if a vaccine appears for CV19, not expecting one tomorrow but even a successful phase 2 trial might spook the market to drop gold as it did recently most of the pharma will go down as well obviously good for other stocks which I am light in just now though.
However a 2nd CV19 wave will have the opposite effect, unless there is a vaccine. Lot of unknowns not so sure of where things are going so thinking start selling down and going heavily into cash.

THOUGHTS ON ZEFER

From the 21 May 2020 Strategic [not exploration] RNS:
“o Zefer Cell 9
-- Located 600 metres west of the leach pad processing facility
-- Very favourable geology on the mineralisation trend of the existing open pit mine with production possible from 2024
Exploration of this area is likely to take longer due to the depth of drilling from the surface, with production possibly commencing in 2025.”

TS - I’m sure we are all curious as to the deeper [pun intended] significance of Zefer.
Nothing has been advised by AAZ, as yet, to suggest it is a precusor to:

“Porphyry evaluation is planned for three years from 2021 to identify a mineral deposit suitable for mine development by 2024”

However, given the ore stratum targeted is deep [how deep is yet to be revealed], can this possibility be entertained?
X
To add to Matt’s Sat-View shot of the Zefer location, I came across this while perusing the full Hardman Report [20Jun19].
So, it is the furthest West to the flank of Gadir, noting those other 5 prospect areas where some deep drilling was completed during 2018-20.
One point of this being that there is a mineralised belt that sweeps from the main open pit, past Gadir and West to Zefer…..and beyond?

So, Zefer is located, on this Sat-view, just to the NW of the letter “P” in the “Gadir UG Portal annotation text.

Kinda on the haul road to Ugur….
Another dot for the emerging ‘Golden Arc’.
Bittibulag not shown here, though the Soviets actually mined copper and a little gold there, to the NW of Ugur.
Also Zehmet, to the immediate North of Slavyanka and Avshancli, just beyond the [green line] Contract Area perimeter.

As Matt has posted at length:
What lies deeper below?

ENTERPRISE VALUE - EV seems to be near capitalised- share price value

Current
Market Cap (intraday) 5
159.58M
Enterprise Value 3
145.32M

Would guess at 142p it is fairly valued but would not be surprised if it fell back alittle tomorrow

seems to be a good long term play

They are in Canada.
I don't know what EV is so i can't comment on that.
But i do know we have no debt.
No investor has a royalty on the gold.
We make money.
Pay a divi.
Also have a jorc on it way to extend the life of the mines we are at now,and work on 5 other future mines that look very promising.
Also their forecast for AISC are a lot higher than ours, that are actual.
Also their forecast for the first years production is only 60,000 ounces.

Lefrene

Well they seem to have bounced from a resent low of 10p back to 27p.
Also have a M/C of 518m. that from a company that still makes no money and burn their way though a lot every year.

Reminder KAT 2.3p should present an excellent short term trading opportunity as we are now in the home straight for company making funding decision due by end of May.

Its a microcap of just 5.5m and project is a 1.3m gold JORC resource (JV50%) that will be in production in 2021.

That set up should attract a flood of money this week

AngloGold Shutters World’s Deepest Mine After 164 Covid-19 Cases

Felix Njini, Bloomberg News

(Bloomberg) --

AngloGold Ashanti Ltd., temporarily halted work at its Mponeng gold mine in South Africa after more than 164 workers tested positive for Covid-19.

The world’s third-largest gold miner detected a cluster of infections after a mass testing campaign, and the majority of confirmed cases were asymptomatic, said Chris Nthite, a spokesman for the company. AngloGold conducted 650 tests since Thursday, he added. Mponeng, the last of AngloGold’s South African assets, employs about 5,000 workers.

“As a precautionary step, operations at Mponeng Mine -– which were running at 50% capacity -– have been temporarily halted on a voluntary basis to complete contact tracing and to again deep clean and sanitize the workplace and key infrastructure,̶1; Nthite said.

AngloGold is in the process of selling Mponeng, the world’s deepest mine, to Harmony Gold Mining Co., a deal that’s expected to close at end of June. The producer has suspended its guidance for full-year output of 3.05 million to 3.3 million ounces of gold amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Workers in South Africa’s mines, which employ more than 450,000 people, are particularly vulnerable as they toil in cramped shafts that can reach more than two miles underground, before returning to overcrowded hostels and shanty towns.

Outlook

The Company achieved considerable success in 2019 but the COVID-19 health emergency has made the short-term outlook uncertain. However, Anglo Asian is now financially robust and well placed to weather the challenges of COVID-19. The Company's main priority during this period is to protect the health and safety of its staff whilst maintaining normal operations wherever possible.

The Company has over 1,000 square kilometers of land within its contract areas. As set out above and elsewhere in this results announcement, the Company has a comprehensive exploration programme underway to extensively explore this land for new deposits. This programme is yielding results with the identification of several major targets at Gedabek and Gosha and the new mineral occurrences at Avshancli and Gilar. We are also extending the mineral reserves at our existing mines. We still regard Ordubad as an untapped value opportunity and work there has been promising. The Company will also consider any suitable opportunities outside Azerbaijan which it believes can be made commercially successful.

We have set a production target of 75,000 to 80,000 gold equivalent ounces for 2020, which is a small decrease from 2019. This includes up to 67,000 ounces of gold and between 2,200 and 2,400 tonnes of copper. We are currently still on track to achieve this production target and I look forward to updating shareholders with our progress in the coming months. At current metal prices achieving our production guidance is expected to result in a turnover in excess of $100 million.

I would like to conclude by saying that Anglo Asian accomplished much in 2019. We continue to look to the future, beyond the abatement of the COVID-19 health emergency, to build on our very solid foundations to develop your Company into a mid-tier gold, copper and silver producer. Despite the current unprecedented times, I continue to look forward to 2020 and beyond with optimism.

More pressure on the Gold price? S. Africa is a major producer, but corono virus cases in the general population are the highest in Africa so other mines may also be vulnerable to disruption.

-------------------------------------------------------
Operations at the world's deepest gold mine, in South Africa, have been halted after 164 cases of coronavirus were detected there.
The Mponeng mine, like all others in the country, resumed operations last month after being closed in March as part of a national lockdown.
It had been operating at 50% capacity but some workers have reportedly raised concerns about their safety.
Most of those who tested positive were not showing any symptoms.
They have all been put into isolation, according to the mine's owners, AngloGold Ashanti.
The company said that 650 workers had been tested after a first case was detected last week.
South Africa has the most cases of coronavirus in Africa - 21,343. It has recorded 407 deaths - fewer than Egypt and Algeria.

My thanks to Mattjos for a great post No 35717 which sets out where we think we are. This is an incredible Company which is in an exceptional financial position and charting it’s way forward.

Matt is also right that we should have patience especially during the Covid period to allow whatever initiatives are on going at present to be played out. Bill could not openly come out in the Webinar on Thursday and say our valuation is too low because I believe it would not be appreciated by the other parties. Similarly he could not reiterate our mid cap aspirations, it was simpler just to say leave it to the market…..an easy way out for Bill. Also he chose not to say the Broker Notes coming out will give guidance on value…..again for fear of being seen to openly say we are not fairly valued.

Why does this matter. Supposing a merger is being negotiated the valuations of the Company will have to be calculated. Say it is a 50/50 merger and say £2.00 has been set as our price, if our price goes up as it should have done due to the gold price etc to over this £2.00 level and beyond our fellow investors might baulk at the £2.00 valuation. The other party may also not want to value us more and thus put the 50/50 share into confusion.

Given our cashflow generation, dividend etc we all believe we should be at or over a share price by now of £2.

For information that is why I come back to the point I raised on a post on Friday about SPA trying to help in March.

Here is a summary of the events and I express my courtesy to fellow posters mentioned here.

TERROPOL broke the story on 5th March on Post 31,527

silverspoon2009 put this into an easily usable direct link format to the audio on Post 31,530

2sporrans made a summarised transcript of what John Mayer of SPA said on Post 31,531

Spidertricks and Cybernest53 on Post 31,645 put up both links to the audio and Twitter link to the AAZ homepage, which showed the Company had picked up the reference to the audio. Thus confirming it’s validity.

Great find Terrapol

Direct link:

Most of what John Meyer said [there's a bit more] with the really important bit about Azerzi Gov't buying intent first:

"....it was revealed a while ago, that the Government was looking at buying the business"

".....I'm sure that will happen at some point"

"....certainly there is a very interested buyer there who i don't think is about to go away"

Also:

".....pretty pathetic valuation[s], because they've been unloved for a long time"

" .... a company that does fundamentally well"

".....good underlying business with expansion potential"

".....one of our clients, which is very nice to have"

Well, well.....
For me, there's nowt in the current price to reflect a potential buyout.

...........................................................................................

To me I think it is clear SPA were trying to help and it should be borne in mind they are the Company NOMAD.

In conclusion I believe Bill should get the Broker Notes out pronto and in his usual professional manner. If there is any delay it could be surmised that Bill has been held back and told to underplay things for the moment.

We are undervalued as things stand and should be much higher and obviously we will see how this plays out in due course.

All of the above is IMHO.
