27/4/2020 17:41 | aha, now an antibody (AB) test question from the press!!!,,,, MH, we now have lab based AB tests,,,,,, but, yet to find a lateral flow (non lab) test with a clinical level of results we're confident with!!! CW, we have tests that are good enough for a first pass look-see, but, an AB test that is good enough to say to an individual that you've had it or not, we don't have that yet!! Cheers Wan :-) | wanobi
27/4/2020 17:39 | LOL Wan, I could not be in a safer place than I am in. The total population of North Cyprus is just above 300K. There are only 7 people in our complex !! There has been 4 deaths here, far away from where I am. 2 Germans and 2 locals. It were the Germans that brought it here There are 12 people in the hospital recovering from the virus. That is it. I go shopping every 2 weeks wearing a mask, gloves and glasses. I have a good library of books and my garden etc, etc. So I have no worries regarding the virus. I have a policeman as a friend and he keeps me informed. There are no cases of the virus in our area at all. On the 4th of May lockdown finishes. Says the man from Del Monte 😁. Apologies re the O/T. 27/4/2020 16:49 | DP/MF, your post 34517 on the main AAZ thread,,, I doff my hat to you and many thanx for posting that,,, might I be so bold to suggest a telephone call to AAZ top brass offering up your expertise in this area :-),,, apologies if I have overstepped the mark, not meaning to cause any offence,,, clearly you have much to offer them when it comes to such things :-),,,, many thanx, Cheers Wan :-) | wanobi
27/4/2020 16:43 | I'm a director of a listed company much bigger than AAZ, but which started out with a market cap of around £100m, and never had a spread above 1%. It is the job of the Nomad to manage the market. It doesn't matter if they have a trading desk or not, their job is to ensure a liquid market and to target key institutional shareholders. From what I have seen, share price Angel do none of that. If I was the board, THE SINGLE BIGGEST THING I could do for shareholders would be to hold share price Angel's feet to the fire on this, and tell them that if they cannot get the spread down they will be fired. Because there are no shortage of Nomads with trading desks that can do this. There was frustration when the spread was 7p, now it is 10p. What next, 20p? Big spread = less volume = MMs worried about balancing books = bigger spread. It is a vicious circle and we need fewer MMs, more newsflow and a more active Nomad. All very achievable. I spoke today to one of the UKs best known private investors and mentioned AAZ to him. I'm pretty sure the spread would put him off. And really, when Barrick and Newmont are up 100% yoy and have minimal spread, why would any rational investor buy AAZ right now? Yes, it is cheap and high quality, but it is cheap because it is so illiquid. And it will remain cheap until that is addressed. | ![]() donald pond
