Housing, Banks and Autos are all helping drag the S&P lower - three key components of a supposedly ‘healthy’; economy. Again, far too many warning signs out there to just simply ignore when the S&P is priced to perfection and the Fed no longer has the markets back

Tesla?

The stock should be a zero. Right here and now. If the market tanks it will be one of those stocks left high and dry and it’s debt pile, amongst other things, will sink it. At the moment though it’s still all to play for.

It’s also the most shorted stock in the US, so not for the faint hearted :)

The Commercials generally 'create' the turning point in Gold whilst the Speculators tend to 'trend follow'.

The turn in Gold now looks to be in & growing ever more apparent. with a margin of safety, assume the Commercials will look to add to their Net Long positions on pull backs .. the Specs have already started unwinding/covering their Shorts. As/when the Specs determine the trend is now up, expect them to switch net long & follow the new trend.

you might want to check the ratio of S&P constituents 52 week highs v lows which is deteriorating

Anyway, I’m out of here the next day or two, will be busy with Tesla Q3’s.

Cflather - shorting yes. Companies, sectors, markets, whatever your poison. Spresdbets, cfd’s, options or extended settlements.

If you’re relatively new to this though I wouldn’t recommend. Without very good risk management you can get into a lot of trouble. With Options your risk is limited but timing and a full understanding of the underlying position are required.

With respect, I wouldn’t be calling any bottoms quite yet.

Let the tape do the talking.

Epic battle intraday, but after being 500 down the S&P failed at the 200 (near flat on the day at one point) and sold off the last quarter hour and into the close.

The bears still have this, for now - yes, we are heavily oversold but that’s just one of many indicators.

thanx mattjos, I'm only highlighting something I saw,,,,,, bad things happen and we can all learn from them.. Whilst I appreciate you are obviously a very successful investor and well done for that, any of us can be caught out in my opinion, that's all.

As for Brexit, I agree, business will always find a way to do business,,, however, it's an evolutionary process so there will always be casualties along the way and new businesses taking advantage, forging ahead with new methodology and so on... As an example, look at Amazon & Sears,,,,, or Tesco & Aldi/Lidl etc etc...

whether I have £1m (I don't) or £10m (I don't) as you rightly point out, is irrelevant and yes I do do understand markets go up and down... I have learned a few things along the way ;-)

I hope the DOW does finish up on the day and you get more AAZ shares tomorrow, for me, I'll take heed from the lady who lost the lot and keep a sensible amount of my wealth ring fenced just in case as so often happens,,,, history repeats itself!

Oddly .. $50k stock we just took into USA factory ... always previously ex-China ... abracadabra! Is now all ex-Bulgaria & not therefore subject to 25% tariffs.Last time I was in Moscow, all French cheese in supermarkets now classified 'Product of Belarus' .. re-wrap job.Commerce always finds ways round tariffs.

Thinking ahead a few weeks.

If only 10m of the 115m share holders decide to re-invest the dividend of 2.3p, that would create a demand of £230k for shares. At 70p that would create a buying pressure for 330k shares.

If in 3 seeks time the Italians are really prepared to take on the EU I would expect to see gold well above $1300/ oz. I would not bet against the Italians as they are in a strong position with Brexit around the corner.

I've only been investing for about a year, Wan. Quite interested to see how this might go!We're going to experience a bear market at some point, I suppose. I just hope this isn't the biggy!Good news is that gold appears still to have haven status. I was worried crypto and the dollar may have replaced it

Very disappointing over the last 10 days when FRES is up over10% by comparison. I feel the price is being held back, as it was at 40.
