It's been a fantastic display of politicians puffing up their plumage, blustering and posturing for their domestic purposes with the media whipping up a frenzy of fear. Putin is playing the long game as always. His state controlled media works well for him domestically, as does the high oil price, whilst he seems to have the upper hand now and a seat at a table with the West. China happy to watch.This whole episode throws up some far reaching long term questions that somehow need to be grasped if we want to be around as a race in 100 years. Can our political systems handle the challenge? Feels like a Tolkien story, although a ring being thrown into the lava of Mordor is a Big Bang and The End. And the human race didn't live happily ever after :/)

Does not look like the mm are keen to sell stock. A bit of movement in Ukraine could see a nice window for RY to start talking about whether these negotiations are getting anywhere or whether we should keep on the derisking path. At this stage 25p is a steal, any oligarch knows that and can stump it up with ease. A tidy copper stream and assured supply for a Chinese or Korean battery factory.
