I wonder how much of the special dividend will be invested back in Amstrad? May give a boost to the price?

darrin1471,

Are you sure it's wise to short something with one of the lowest ratings on the LSE, still with a load of cash sitting on the balance sheet with excellent prospects in a the medium/long term ? I don't see Alan Sugar selling any shares. I wonder why if H1 is going to be so bleak?

DFD, now there's a cracking short.

imho, pdyor

I said before the directors sold that the next 6 months does not look rosy for AMT. If you are a long term holder then hold, but I think there will be better buying opportunities and a lower share price next year. I may have a little dabble at a short on AMT in a few weeks time. H1 06/07 turnover figures will look low when compared to recent history as will the full year turnover figures. There is also a risk that there may be further delays with the new Sky+ box

With everything that happens around Amstrad mesquida..only the actions of Sir Alan Sugar count for anything..worth remembering that, eh?

mesquida,

The two director sells mean very little, they probably felt like releasing a few quid, this happens, sometimes, especially after a good dividend.

I'm sure that if you feel that this act is a good medium/long term indicator of Amstrad's share price, you will go short, heavily.

At your peril.

Interesting theory, but clearly two Directors do not share your rose coloured view of the future!

So say over 3 years the total DIVI averaged 9p per annum..plus a special DIVI every 3 years of say 33p i.e. 11p per annum..making a total DIVI of 20p per annum..

Interim dividend = 2.5p

Final dividend = 4.5p

Special DIVI = 32p

Looking strong today.

Looks like she'll be back to the pre ex-div share price soon.

Very happy to be still holding.

I am a young investor - started investing in stocks directly in 2000

Low pe stocks paying strong covered dividend yields have always been a major factor in my stock selection strategy and always will.

Tripled my money since then and up 20% year to date overall.

There will always be the odd exception but in such cases this will form a small percentage of my investable funds.

Some of the stocks i have held for most of this year include...

lloy, bre, pfg, bt.a, hsba, ng., barc, nwg, fp., rbs

Washbrook,

I don't understand your point. Amstrad are a very good mature income company.

You also say that you invest in them for the income.

Amstrad are just paying out a very special bonus.

There is still scope/money for another possible bonus later.

If you are looking for income why would such an investor not re-invest windfalls back into one of their stable income producers?

The fact that there is also excellent scope for capital growth in no way should discourage income investors. Especially if the stock has allready proved its worth to them.

I am 70 years of age been investing in stocks since 1962.
If I was a young investor I would not bother with Income stocks.
